A friend had me (on a dare) try drinking aloe vera juice 2oz daily to help acid reflux. After about a month, I noticed some improvement. What do you guys think? Freak of nature or is aloe vera really ok for our insides too?

Aloe vera only burned my already inflamed throat even more.  SO no it did not help me at all.  But ive heard it helps others.  As far as being bad for your body, I doubt it.  Just dont get drunk on it, u should be ok.

Smurfy, a freind of mine drinks avj before each meal and she swears by it.  I was drinking it for about a month, then one day used the 'search site' option here, and read where one poster claimed the Mayo Clinic stated it destroyed the nerve cells in one's stomach.  I don't know if this is true, but I stopped drinking it.

Hi all, How about ACV? It doesn't make sense to drink acid to cure acid. How does it work?

I ordered the ACV and tried it but I could not get past the taste.  Call me whimpy.  I even order the brand recommended here :)
But hey, if it works for you then I am happy.

Take care

Hi there!  I am not sure how it works, but it really worked for me.  I couldn't handle any of the meds for acid reflux, and decided to order the info from Barton.

It states in his booklet, if you have too much acid it might not work for one, but if not enough acid, the acv being acidic, aids in immediately digesting the food in the stomach and eases heartburn.

I followed the one regimen given by a person who wrote, he took 2 tsp of Braggs ACV, along with 2 teaspoons of honey, mixed in a 1/2 cup of warm water, after every meal.  I did this for several months, and then about a few weeks ago, stopped.  I no longer seem to need it.  Also if I ever felt a bit uncomfortable, I would take the  honey alone.  I also took a tsp of honey every night before bed.  No more tho.

Originally, I was afraid to drink the Braggs acv, but one day I had a bout of heartburn that was so bad, I tried it, and it was great, after about 10 mins or so, the hb was gone, and I was sold!   It was then I started the regimen of taking it after every meal.  I have also read where some people take it before eating.

It seems to me, I have also read where the acv is not acidic when reaching the stomach.  I dunno, but will look for the link and post it.

I hate to say this, as I am a bit superstitious, but I haven't had heartburn for quite awhile.  I am eating a lot of things now, including eating fat free potato in bed while reading---------awww something I really missed.  yeah yeah yeah    I also eat in the evening, and do not worry about not eating for 3 or 4 hours before going to bed.  I also get up during the night and eat graham crackers dunked in fatfree milk.

The honey helps the acv not taste so bad, and it is easy to use to then.  The taste never bothered me really, as I knew it was helping.  I also bought honey from a local bee keeper.

Don't use Heinz, I know Braggs worked for me, and then the info I have, suggests it be Braggs or another organic ACV.

The first few days, eat soft foods only.  Also chew your food thoroughly.

The link below tells about additional benefits and a few warnings about acv.

The 2 above links were given in Barton's booklet.

I would like to note tho, I don't think I had a real severe case of GERD.

At the present about the only thing I use is an occasional Rolaid, and it is only a precaution, not that I think I really need it.

Hope this hleps.  yeah Try it, what can it hurt?

Oh and I would rinse my mouth out real good after drinking it, as I have read where it can hurt the enamel on the teeth.  I would also drink a glass of water to clean my throat of any the the mixture hanging on there, incase it would burn the throat.

I wanted to add, --I think I went through 2 bottles of the Braggs before I was brave enough to stop drinking it.  Also in the beginning, I would eat red delicious apples after a meal, just a few slices.  They worked for me too.

Thank goodness the Braggs worked for me, I am a much happier person, and it is a lot easier to eat out now.  You wouldn't believe what all I ate during the holidays.  :-)   :-)   :-)   do not eat anything with tomatoes tho, haven't braved that one.  nono    Also no diet coke nono    But I have been drinking Folgers Simply Smooth Decaf Coffee (Gentle on your stomach)   Their site tells where you can find it, I found it at Target.

Hi to Kitt!  :-)

I wonder if they have the ACV at Whole Foods? I bought one before but I gave it to my mom.

I have had the organic version, with no preservative's when I had really bad stomach pain and heart burn, and it really helped me. I drank it every day for over a month.
