Hello everyone. My name's Brendan and I'm 23 years old.

I've had acid reflux for about 5 years, but recently my symptoms have become unbearable (this is starting to sound like AA, but w/e haha).

I have taken Prilosec, Protonix, Prevacid, Apple Cider Vinegar, and even tried Green Tea, but none have helped my acid reflux or my voice.

I'm a musician, and this is unbearable for me, losing my voice. It hasn't been at full strength for a couple of years now, and it's hard for me to think of what it could be because I get depressed.

When trying to hold a conversation, it's hard to talk for more than a few minutes without losing my voice.

I've been exercising regularly, but I can't lose any weight, even though my diet has been balanced and I've watched my calorie intake. I weight 240 lbs, and am 5'11, but I think I should be around 200-210.

I've elevated my bed, but it doesn't seem to help too much.

I've been on somewhat of a diet, not eating foods that aggravate it, but my voice is still MIA and hasn't come back.

I've had 2 endoscopies, and they've diagnosed me with a small hiatal hernia, acid reflux, and gastritis.

At this point, I really don't know what to do. It's really affecting my life in a negative way. If I don't get my voice back I don't know what I'll do.

Does anyone have any tips for me, I really want to get this under control.

And sorry for the long post! :)

Welcome to HealingWell and the GERD and Heartburn Forum.

I am so sorry to hear of you problems with your voice.  You have seen a GI it sounds like from your post.

May I suggest as far as your weight you set up an appointment with a Registered Dietician who can help you set up a diet plan that will fit your needs to lose weight and include foods that do not  aggravate your acid reflux?

Also have you thought of making an appointment with a Laryngologist for you voice problems?  It never hurts to get the opinion of a specilist.

I am sure some of the members will have ideas for you too.

Again a warm welcome and stick with us.

Gentle Hugs

Which PPI or drug are u taking right now? Lifestyle modifications are very important too on top of the drugs.

Nexium and Prilosec worked well for me. My DD is 16 months old and she drinks Prevacid solutabs once a day. I am trying to switch to Prevacid too bec. it's cheaper for me this way with the way our insurance goes. These PPI take about a week to see a huge difference so keep trying.
