Hi all,

I am a young male, almost 25 years old, and about 2 months ago I developed a stomach issue. I am worried because I should not have these issues at such a young age. I am not overweight, I actually lost 15 pounds these last 2 months because I have changed my diet and I eat a lot less due to the discomfort.

I have been reading everything I can find online because I have done all the "regular" tests. I had an xray done at the ER on my chest for difficulty breathing, I has had blood tests to look for ulcers, I have had stool samples to look for parasites. The only tests I have not done are a colonoscopy and endoscopy which I hope to do very soon.

The problem started as heartburn/GERD, burping, gas, diahrea but I was prescribed nexium, celebrex, and some other medicines which help with acid reduction. BUT i am still feeling a pressure/pain on my left side right under the rib cage. I have been seeing my gastro doctor, my intern doctor, and both think it is nothing serious. I disagree, this pain/pressure feeling has not gone away in 2 months and my stomach is rumbling all the time. Even though my diet has consisted of VERY bland foods I still feel I am not getting any better.

I stopped all my medicine for about 8 days to see if I was getting sick due to the medicine but all my symptoms came back! nothing has worked and I am really worried. I guess i need to have the scope done to see inside me but this is not fun and it is VERY uncomfortable.

This pressure on my left side (right under my rib cage) feels to me like a hiatal hernia. I know from a friend of mine who was diagnosed with his when he was 18 that is is possible for young people to get these. I am also worried because I read that it is basically not fixable (other than surgery) and depending on severity it is present for life.

I am new to the site. I hope to find useful information and hopefully over time get better.

Could be gastritis. When I first had GERD the overwhelming amount of acid caused my stomach to get inflamed, resulting in gastritis.

A scope will hopefully get to the bottom of it.

Hello and Welcome to HealingWell.  It does sound like you have been through many tests and I believe the endoscopies are your nest best move.

Have you had any scopes in the past?

Keep us posted and I hope you soon have a dx  and can be treated.

Again a warm welcome.
