I think my 2 month old daughter has GERD. She has all the symptoms. Is there anyone out there that is in a similar situation or that can give me advice or suggestions? She cries all the time, nothing I do seems to work.

Hello Mrs Bosquet,

I am sorry about your little one, this must be so difficult for you. I am not from the gerd forum, so I don't know a lot about it, but wanted to welcome you.

I am sure that just as soon as a member reads this, there will be some advice for you.

I hope that you have a great day and that your little one feels better soon.

Hugs, Karen

Hi. My dd had it. She tried Zantac and Axid but Prevacid was the only thing that helped. She's 17 months old and still takes Prevacid. She was breastfed and I supplemented with a hypoallergenic formula, Similac Alimentum Ready to feed.    It's been the hardest thing I've had to do, taking care of a reflux baby.  It affected everything.  I am an advocate for medicating if they truly need it.  Reflux in infants can cause breathing problems(they can aspirate on the acid), feeding aversions, failure to thrive, on top of the other stuff that adults get too.   I read about an 18 month old online that was not medicated and then she had a scope done and they found out that her esophagus was really damaged.  She was so small, failure to thrive, delayed in speech and other milestones.  I don't mean to scare you but I thought I'd put it out there because I know a lot of parents are afraid of meds.  But sometimes they really need it.

I have so much to say and so many info I can give you. Just feel free to email me. Have u mentioned this to your pediatrician? My daughter sees a pediatric gastroenterologist.

I think u can email me here.  Anyway, in case u can't, here's my email.

Mrs Bousquet - My youngest daughter was born a preemie 3 months early and weighted only 3 pounds, she had reflex from birth. The doctors said it is common for preemies to get reflex because things just aren't developed fully. She was put on Zantac daily. She would struggle with eating and when she got to the age of crawling she would not lay on her tummy due to the acid coming back up so she would lay on her back and arch up her core then push with her feet and scoot backwards across the floor. It was the strangest thing to see, but really cleaver how she found a way to get around.

Anyway, after being on the zantac for a little over 1 year she got weened off the meds. She has just turned 5 and has not had any further problems with it.

Was your baby a preemie ? You should take her in to be checked for sure. She could have some reflex or maybe colic but she needs to be seen to find out. I wish her the best.
Precious - sorry about your little one, you sound like you really know your stuff about baby reflex and could be a excellent person for Mrs Bousquet to talk to about it. Your awesome for wanting to share your experiences with her.
Take care everyone, Teala
