I have had chronic acid reflux since December 2008. I am currently on Protonix 40 mg. twice a day and Zantac twice a day. Most days it seems whatever I eat, I feel a pain in my esophagus with acid rising up and down. I had an upper endoscopy yesterday and the doctor said she couldn't find anything unusual (she gave me the pictures) but did do a biopsy which she wasn't very clear about where she took it from. She said that in a few weeks she wants me to come back and do an Esophageal Manometry.. I am getting very frustrated as I was hoping the endoscopy would of shown something. Has anyone else had to go through many different tests to find out the reason for their acid reflux? Also, a few weeks ago, was rushed to the ER with abdominal pains and after an ultrasound, found out I also have gallstones.. I am wondering it that could have something to do with my other symptoms?

I know you are frustrated but don't give up.  Sometimes it does take a lot of tests and trial runs with meds but I am proud of you for being proactive.

My sister came to the U of MN Hospital on 8-13-08 with known ovarian cancer newly dx and she just had her surgery on 2/19/09.  It has taken 6 months to go through all the tests and chemo etc to get to the surgery.  I understand your frustration.

Take care.
