HI.I'M NEW TO THIS SITE AND I'M NOT SURE WHAT KIND OF PROBLEM I HAVE. I'M HOPING SOMEBODY CAN HELP ME FIGURE IT OUT.IT'S ALL STARTED AFTER FOOD POISONING about 1,5 MONTHS AGO. IT WAS PRETTY BAD ,I WAS THROWING UP ALL NIGHT NON STOP .SOON AFTER THAT I NOTICED THAT MY RIGHT SIDE OF THROAT FELT SWELON AND IT WAS HARD TO BREATH. IT WOULD GET WORSE WHEN I LAY DOWN,IT FELT LIKE IT'S CLOSING UP AND I HAD TO STAY UP ALL NIGHT. FIRST I THOUGHT IT'S INFLAMMATION TO LARYNX BUT IT KEEPT GETTING WORSE. IT KINDA MOVED DOWN, I FEEL LIKE SOMETHING BLOCKING MY LUNGS(ESPECIALLY MY RIGHT SIDE). I DON'T EXPERIENCE ANY HEARTBURN OR ANY OTHER SYMPTOMS ASSOCIATED WITH GERD EXCEPT FOR BURPING. SOMETIMES I FEEL LIKE THERE IS A BALL DEEP DOWN IN MY THROAT AND PRESSURE AND IT A LITTLE HURTS. IT REALLY BOTHERS ME ,I CAN'T SLEEP AT NIGHT , I GOT DEPRESSED. IF SOMEBODY HAVING ANYTHING LIKE THAT PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW YOU DEAL WITH IT CAUSE IT'S DRIVING ME CRAZY! THANKS

Hi Bianca

I am not an expert but it sounds like you had some acidic irritation to the esophagus from all of the vomiting. All that bile may have caused inflamation. You should see a GI and have him determine what you should do to get relief. He might start you out with something to heal the irritation. Maybe even suggest an EDG scope to see what else might be going on. All that vomiting could have caused other issues that you didn't have before. you'llbe fine. Just get checked. I had a scope done a couple weeks ago. It was very easy because they put you out usually. Hope you get well soon.

ps I never had heartburn and reflux problems either, but now I know that I do have GERD. Your symptoms do sound similar.

Hello Bianca,

Welcome to HealingWell.  I am sorry to hear of your problems.  I would suggest that you do make an appointment with a GI physician for an evaluation to find out what is going on.  Other things could cause these sx and finding out the dx will also help decrease you depression.

Again a warm welcome to the GERD/Heartburn forum.

You may have not noticed your caps were on.  We ask that members do not use all caps as it is hard to read and also considered shouting...........thank you in advance for your understanding. No big problem.  :-)

Hi Bianca,
You definitely ought to get to a GI doc and get your issues evaluated. You don't need to worry. It's not uncommon for an irritation like that to last a long time. I've actually spent months getting better after having a severe GERD episode. A GI doc will be able to diagnose the problem, and give you medicines that will help you heal more quickly.
I hope you feel better soon!
