I see many of you say you cannot vomit after a  nissen

Anyone have this experience and what did the Md say?

Since The day after I returned home in Nov 08 from the hospital I have had 4--5 attacks of thick white phlegm that comes up. I immediatley  called the on call surgeon - she said it was a cold.

Last night was the worst - and as you can see from my other post (a tear after nissen)  I am in a lot of pain right now with this surgery-and this is after 7 months and out of the blue.

Now I am wondering if this stuff coming up was a sign the wrap was opening? Or was never right to begin with

When I asked the surgeons, they said I probably had a cold or allegries.
I do not know about you all and vomiting,  but I have to stand up and let it all go into a kleenix and then into the toilet bowl.

There were times I had to force it up a litttle a time as it would not go down.
These episodes came out of nowhere- suddenly I could be watching Tv; taking a pill; sitting on the couch.
Any advice on this disgusting topic appreciated

Betty -
I have had a few bouts with the dry heaves and have paid dearly for it. I have never been able to get anything past the wrap. I have anti nausea meds to help with that. I don't have an idea what the "stuff" is though. Sorry I can't be more help.

Take care,
Bill

Hi Betty,
I can't speak to exactly what you're experiencing, but I've had water/beverages sit at the wrap, and kind of gurgle down little by little (when I drink a lot fast). I've had burps that pop the liquid that sits there up into my throat, and it seems like it's GERD, but it's not acidic at all...it's just the liquid that hasn't gone down yet.

Also, at times, when the wrap is irritated, I get some spasming, and I get a lot of saliva, which would appear white.
These probably aren't anything like what you're experiencing, but it's what came to mind when I read your post.
Good luck getting to the bottom of it!

I have that all the time even after all the dilations. You explained it to a "T".

Thanks Denise and Bill

Glad to know I am not alone in this. This did not happen with the first nissen in 06 - so I guess it has to do with the wrap or the mesh. Probably the wrap as you have not had the mesh.

I will pass it on to my Md today and I see GI in June unless this pain does notgo away. Godd luck Bill with your nissen revision

Good luck with your doctor appointment, Betty. Hope you get to the bottom of your problem, and get relief.
