Hello All, i am sorry if this has already been asked but i could not find...

I am trying to find out what triggers my GERD. SO, how long does it typically take to see a GERD reaction after you eat? Can it be in minutes or hours or next day?

Secondly. i do not have any heartburn. I just have minor Chest Pain off and on. I have been told i have Short Segment Barrets Esophagus. Heart was given ok.

I did take Yoghurt and went to treadmill in 5 minutes... that did trigger my chest pain. So... next time i will wait longer before excercising. thanks all

HI Dibba,
I could never exercise after eating before surgery. Also, the trigger was variable for me. I might get a heartburn attack when I hadn't been eating anything at all! Certain foods were a sure thing...strangely, Goldfish crackers always set me off. Many times my heartburn didn't seem to relate to foods at all...
GERD could be immediate, or come on long after your food trigger.
Sorry I can't answer your question more definitively!
Good luck!
Denise
