Over the years I have posted here, generally telling folks that they may have GERD as a symptom that is a mask for psychological issues, usually anger and sadness/trauma. The good news is that this approach continues to work well for me; I still get occasional flare ups of stress-related symptoms, but by focusing on the psychology, not the symptoms, I quickly resolve the symptoms. A lifelong prison sentence of bland food and all kinds of rigid routines is not for me...I eat and drink all the "bad foods" and in fact sometimes use them to defy the symptoms. When I "baby" my body, I give in to the physical. Now, some will see my approach as dangerous. However, reading the tales of woe here, I see considerably more danger in untested surgeries and pills. So, if you want to try a different path and are brave, think of your symptoms as messengers from your subconscious, go see a therapist and not an MD...someday life might actually be fun again. Thousands of converts to mind-body medicine will cheer you on.....

Thanks for checking in and I am glad you have found what works for you.  I agree the mind and body are connected and staying in the moment goes a long way in dealing with any disorder.  As you know from my signature I am a believer in taking care of you mental health but also I do know that there are medical reasons for many of the sx that we have so again thank you and nice to hear from you.

On HealingWell we strive to seek a balance between alternative and traditional approaches. I feel strongly, both approaches have value for anyone seeking healing.

I wish you peace riverotter and take care.
