Welcome mvd; it's been a while since my surgery (11 months), but my instructions had me taking things a little slower than the pace you're setting. If the eggs didn't go well, it may be your body telling you to slow down a little. Why don't you try some noodles for a change of pace as well as yogurt or oatmeal?

I don't think you've hurt anything, or that anything is wrong, it's just a bit early for eggs perhaps. Remember that everyone is different, and what works for one person, will not work for another..eggs may just not work for you yet.

Take care.

mvd,
I just had my Nissen redo 2 days ago. My surgeon wants me to stay on liquids for a couple more days and gradually add soft foods. He recommended cream of wheat, oatmeal, mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs, and maybe some small pastas. The first time around I could eat scrambled eggs, but I had to put ketchup on them to get them down. I suspect I will have an easier time now since the wrap is correctly done this time.
There is a lot of good information here, but it takes some time to read it all. I agree with Janice, your body will tell you if you are going to fast. Make sure to let things heal.
Hey, I got to graduate to full liquids tonight!

Take care,
Bill

Hi MVD, a comrade (Bill) here offered me a great greeting 2 weeks ago.He said "welcome to the wrapped club" So here I am passing it on to you "Welcome to the wrapped club" LOL There are a few of us with our 1st wrap and a few who has had a revision done for reasons known to them and some are posted.
I had my nissan 2 weeks ago.I ate mashed potatoes, soup & Oatmeal for awhile. If you go back to all our posts ,you will read. I am able to eat solids.I only started today though as per my surgeon. He stated eat 5x a day small meals, However ,If i feel a tightness effect, choking etc I should remain on pureed and or soft.when swelling is prevalent around the wrap you do feel a closing effect or tightness.BUT IT IS ONLY TEMPORARILY. You know your body better then any doctor,If this continues please state your distaste to the surgeon.Another 2 comrades here gave me great advice "She said be patient ,it is a very slow recovery" (Thanx Denise & Janice).
Other then that, how are you feeling? Was it a laproscopic nissan? Have you lost weight? We are all here to comfort each other and you can find the greatest upbeat ppl here with the greatest experience.
Good Luck and please read on,
Bea

Bea,
I lost between 16 and 19 pounds...depending on the day. The way I'm eating now, though, I'm worried I'll gain some back. I'm going to try to get more careful and keep it off.

Sounds like a plan. Be happy you can go outside in the pollen. I'm locked inside with the windows closed for the next month at least. Oh well...it is as it is. Taking my nebulizer as I speak.
Enjoy the sunshine!

Hi mvd,
Slimfast, Carnation Instant Breakfast...any of those things are fine.  Just remember that you can eat anything you can chew to liquid...scrambled eggs would be fine if you like them soft...hard eggs would be more difficult.  I had trouble with noodles early on.
Good luck with your eating.  I'm 3 months post nissen and have been enjoying anything I want!
heal well!

Hi Mvd,
What is your name? from my fellow gerd nissan sufferers here on this forum I have learned a great deal. THIS IS A SLOW PROCESS. Please be patient and do not be depressed. 3 bites are better then an IV drip. I drink instant breakfast.a quarter cup here and there. some days I am weak, still sore but then sometimes I am strong as an ox and can eat a bit more. I am 16 days post nissan and feel great considering I really lost sleep from nite time gerd. I believe your wrap swells on and off, so this may be your issue. However, if you see and feel that it is constant then please by all means call your surgeon. You know your body well.
take care,
b

Hi mvd,

My surgeon told me that my wrap would become increasingly swollen through day 14, then gradually the swelling would reduce.  He warned me to expect more difficult swallowing during that time.  You've had a major revision on your GI tract, and it will take time to heal.  Even tonight...while i can eat whatever I want, certain things will irritate my wrap and make it feel uncomfortable.  I think it was popcorn.  I'm guessing that I forgot to chew it up enough.  When you get to my stage (3 mo.) you can get a little frisky and forget that you still need to chew.

Relax into the recovery, and accept it as it comes.  That will make your recovery so much easier.

Good luck to you!   Denise

I have to agree with Bea and Denise's replies. I'm not sure i I have anything else to add to it, but I feel they are both right on the money. Remember go slow and be patient. It does take quite some time to heal properly. One also is you might have to have a dilation after a few months. Not everyone needs it, but a few do.

Take care,
Bill
