but i think this weekend will be a test because we are going to be camping at the nascar races in michigan and well they always have a pig roast and everything else at the camping rounds that we go to. so this should be fun and interesting.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh the nascar races in Michigan.  Does that sound like fun. cool

I am glad to hear you are doing so well.  That is awesome.  You can have fun but do be careful in your selection of foods.  You want to continue to heal well.

I wish you peace and a fun filled weekend.

Hi Melissa,
Sounds like you're doing great! Your strength is down, after surgery and the inactivity that follows it. Sorry to hear you got an infected incision. Glad to hear it's healing.
Enjoy your trip to the NASCAR races! Eat well, but small bites and chew, chew, chew!
Have fun!
Denise

Bea,
Is your incision better? Sorry you've had to struggle with that. Hope all is well! I'm crazy busy at school, so I'm not as free to spend time here. I try to stop in when I can.
Take care and have a great day!

Melissa,
Have fun at the Race! I am going to the dirt tracks this weekend. I haven't been all year and I really miss it. It's been 3 years since I quit racing and it's killing me to not be at the track. You and Bea got infected incisions and I only got one with 12 lb test fishing line sticking out. I keep pulling on it and it won't let go. I am curious as to when it will dissolve enough to pop free. Of course Michelle yells at me to leave it alone, but that is no fun at all.
Bea, 32 hours with a 20 month old will wear anyone out!

Denise - good luck with all that school work!

Bill, you're obviously fearless!

Bea, I'm with you...couldn't handle a parachute/skydive jump!

Captain Andy had a meltdown yesterday. He came to school dressed in sweatpants and a long sleeved shirt, and was sweating and uncomfortable. We had practice onstage, and he did a great job (although he was obviously uncomfortable). At the end, I added the dance, and picked dancers. We practiced it--two concentric circles going in opposite directions--with a dos-y-dos (sp?) at the "la, la, la, la, la's" of the song. We picked kids for the dance who didn't have other main roles.

Captain Andy had apparently planned on being in the dance, and he had a huge meltdown--waling and crying. He was so upset, he was willing to give up his Captain Andy role (too late for that! YIKES...this is such a risky move...what if he refuses to perform when he sees the audience! Wish us luck!)

I guess if I had known that he wanted to be in the dance, I'd have put him in, to avoid this problem. I called his father, to see if he can intervene at home, but if worse came to worse, I may put the soldiers in just to avoid a disaster.

I'll let you know how it goes! On top of that, our houses (props) are collapsing under the weight of their thatched roofs. I've got some great parents who will come to help out. Let's hope we can get them to stand up during the performance. I don't think the humidity is helping the situation!

Yes, once I'm off on summer vacation, I'll have lots of time to help out here. We're going to Martha's Vineyard the week after school lets out. That will be nice and relaxing. Our two sons are going with us. The one who is married will be coming alone, because his wife has to work that week (don't feel sorry for her...she and her brother just took a trip to visit friends in San Diego! She's a PA, and does a lot of traveling for conferences, etc.). It'll be fun to be together as a foursome/family again! We'll be without internet connection during vacation week...we stay on Chappaquiddick Island--a little island off the coast of Martha's Vineyard. We have to take a little ferry boat whenever we want to visit the main island. There's a great beach on Chappy, and we spend most days there, relaxing and enjoying the surf.

Hope everyone's incisions are healing nicely.

Melissa,
Best wishes for an uneventful recovery from your Nissen. Hope our eating is going well!

Have a great day, everyone!

Denise -
I hope everything works out with Captain Andy. I am glad to hear you have some willing parents, that can be all the difference you need to keep things going. A friend of mine has an autistic son and my niece is also. We don't have a very good school system here that can help them. It is very frustrating for everyone. I applaud and admire you, it is a very special person who works with these children.

Take care,
Bill

Thanks, Bill. I enjoy working with special needs kids. I teach a regular classroom that is integrated with special education students. I have a great full-time TA, and we work really well together. Keep your fingers crossed/knock wood, and all other good luck charms in hopes that all goes well for our play. I'll report out after we perform!
Take care,
Denise
