Hello! I just got diagnosed with this a few weeks ago. I am 25 years old, have a 5 year old boy, 3 year old boy, and a 2 month girl. Let me start from the beginning.

I got pregnant in September. The whole time I was pregnant I had awful nausea and heartburn. The dr said it was from the pregnancy and gave me a bunch of different meds to try. Nothing helped. I ended up only gaining 6 pounds. Had my baby girl in May and the symptoms didn't go away. I went back to my gyno and she said it was most likely from the hormones and to wait it out. A few weeks later, it was getting worse so I went to my regular dr who tested me for h. pylori and referred me to a gastro. My h. pylori test came back slightly positive so I was given the 3000mgs of antibiotics to take a day for 2 weeks. Finished those, nothing changed. The gastro scheduled me for an EGD. Everything came back normal. I had inflammation in my esophagus and he removed some polyps which were benign. I also had my gall bladder tested, had the ultrasound and HIDA scan. Those were normal also. He said I probably have the weak LES and it won't go back to normal. I'm currently taking Nexium which has helped a little bit. He said it could take a few weeks for these meds to work. I've lost almost 50lbs in a year, can barely eat anything besides crackers and toast. I'm currently researching the surgeries they have but read most don't always work. I feel awful! I have no energy..which isn't a good thing with 3 kids!. All I want to do is sleep. I found some menus that are GERD friendly which don't look too appetiizng. lol I want my spagetti, pizza, cheese burger and fries, mountain dew and coffee! tongue I bought the Folgers Simply Smooth that is supposed to be gentle on the stomach. Just had half a cup and so far I'm ok.

Did I mention I also have a colostomy? I've had problems since I was born and lived on laxatives. When I was pregnant with my middle child, I didn't go for 6 months and ended up having a c-section because of it. Dr said my colon was the size of a football! I've had every test under the sun done and nobody could figure out what was wrong so I opted for a bag. So far, it's been great!

I guess I'm just sick of the "mystery" diseases that I seem to get. This GERD just adds to the list. I just want to eat!!! There has to be some light at the end of this tunnle.

Welcome, smilewinkgrin I just joined a few weeks ago. I'm going to have the newest surgery option: Esophyx procedure. I've got a thread running on my process of being diagnosed and my search on an option from cutting and finding a doctor to do it. I'm a wuzz when it comes to pain. cry I too have a weak LES and suffer from "silent GERD". My only symtom is chronic coughing and occasional voice loss. If you have any questions about the procedure leave me a message on my thread (I found an experienced Esophyx doctor).
Good luck!
Joy yeah
