Hi everyone, a very tired and sore Janice reporting in! Surgery went exceptionally well and we're keeping our fingers crossed on the final pathology. My new Dr...who is wonderful!...spent time with me this morning and is checking her e-mail constantly for the pathology report; she'll call me with the results as soon as she has them.

As well as the surgery went, the opposite was true for the hospital care, it was truly bad. I didn't get my pain meds, my nausea meds, very little care at all...fortunately I took my own everyday meds, because they didn't have that right either. Tom and I are going to send a note to the CEO of the hospital..not that this will help any, but it will let our voice be heard.

I got about 1 or 2 hours of sleep last night, so I'm pretty sleepy and I'm probably just going to get to bed early! BUT!!!, I am home and I am bolstered by all of your well wishes, prayers and jokes. I am so blessed to have you!

Thank you, thank you, thank YOU!!!
love,
Janice

Dear Janice

I am so glad you are home but sorry to hear you were not treated well at the hospital.  Please do send a letter to the CEO.  If you do not share your experience another person may suffer the same treatment or lack of attention that you did.  It is the right thing to do my sweet friend.

I will be awaiting your report and for tonight, just pamper yourself and snooze away the evening.

Lots of hugs
Kitt

Janice,
So glad to hear the surgery went well, and we're all hoping for good biopsy results. I know the waiting can be the worst, but yet you seem to be doing very well. I do hope you're getting some rest!

As far as the hospital treatment, yes that can certainly go either way. When you're feeling up to it, I sure would write that letter, and send copies to whoever might have some leverage as well as the head nurse on the floor you were on!

Hugs and well wishes to you!

Glad your home. Wishing you well. Here's a little happiness: smilewinkgrin

A mom looked out the back screen door at her 4 year old playing with their dog. She noticed the child eating something.
She asked, "what are you eating, honey?"
He said, "I'm eating raisins, ma."
"Child, where in the world did you get raisins?"
"Off of old Blue's ears." devil smilewinkgrin shocked

Hi everyone! Joy, that's awful, yuch!!!!!!!!!
Today was day 3, always the most painful in my books and this was no different, but even with that I can even say that I can feel some changes (for the better!) I've found the right combo of meds every 4 hours is Tylenol with codeine offset with every 4 hrs an 800 motrin, so every 2 hours I'm taking something. It never goes away, but it does take the edge off..unless I move to much!! The pain is pretty much in charge, as Bill can attest, it certainly likes its position at center stage!

Something nice, quite unusual, I received a get well card from my breast surgeon!, how nice is that! and when the reconstruction Dr.'s office called I was told that they were very disturbed by the lack of care that I received and that they were looking into what had happened.

I'm not going to worry about the Pathology report; what it says, it says and we'll just cross that bridge if we come to it!!!

Tom is taking such good care of me!, even going as far as lifting me in and out of bed so I don't hurt as much, what a prince! I've gotten a lot of calls today, flowers and cards; it's so amazing the amount of support. Just like from all of you; I appreciate your posts, your kind thoughts and prayers; I'm a very lucky woman to have all of you!

I'm heading to bed, I'm really tired!
hugs to all of you!

Hi Janice,
I'm so glad you've gone through the surgery and are on the road to recovery! turn I hope your surgical pain is resolving, and you're feeling a little better each day!

I talked to Chrysa today, and she wanted me to apologize to you about not ever returning your call. When you called it in the midst of her sister's wedding preparations, and she just plain forgot. If you'd like to talk to her, she said she's love to answer any questions you might have. Again, she was very apologetic, and felt terrible that she hadn't called you back.

Heal well, Janice!

Janice -
Good to hear you are home and surgery went well. Sounds like your new doctors are wonderful and really care.
What happened to you at the hospital was what I thought would happen to me. I agree you should write the CEO and send one to the head nurse also. There are absolutely no excuses for the way they treated you.
Make sure to get your rest and let your husband help anyway he can.
Well I am having difficulties seeing the screen, so I am going to get off of here.

Take care,
Bill devil

Hi everyone!, well, Day 3 is over and I am feeling so much better than yesterday! I think I can safely cut back on the pain meds a bit and see how I can make it. I am tired, but progress is definitely mine!!

Denise, please tell Chrysa that it's all good; I can certainly understand life around a bride and wedding plans!!! I hope she had fun. The reconstruction specialist is amazing; he's published and has fellows from around the country studying with him. I'm comfortable with his abilities. They assign a nurse partner to you and she has been such a god-send! Besides the information, she is so empathetic and since she's a BC survivor as well, she can really relate. I've heard from her since I got home and the Dr.'s office is investigating my care as well.

Joy, I couldn't agree more, Tom ranks up there with Michelle for Bill. I'm not going to begin on this, I won't stop. What I can say is that I continue to be amazed at the love and support that I am receiving from so many people; I am truly thankful and humbled by all of it.

So, saying that, Kitt, Bea, Teala, Denise, Barb, Anne, Joy, Bill, Marie, Couchtater, Mary, PA Lady and everyone else; thank you for standing by me during this journey. My hope is that this is over soon!!!!
hugs,
Janice

Hi Janice,
I'm so glad you've found surgeons you're happy with. It sounds like your reconstructive surgeon is great! I'm so glad you found him. I will tell Chrysa you're doing fine. Her role with patients is like that of the nurse you're working with. nurses and PA's have the time to develop a closer and more supportive relationship with patients.

Glad your pain is getting better. I haven't had much time to get on the forum, because my husband and I are getting our house ready to sell. What a lot of work! We've made great progress, and will be having an open house on the 9th.

It's late and I'm tired, so I'd better start getting ready for bed.
Take care, ((((((Janice)))))). Get lots of rest and take good care of yourself!

Bea!!! You have always had my back and I know you could...(I'm really glad you're on my side, I'd be very afraid if I wasn't haha!!!)

I'm having trouble sleeping; I make it through till 3 or so and then just kind of doze from there. I'd like to sleep longer, but I can't get into a position that doesn't cause pain and my back is not crazy that I need to stay on it for 7 or 8 hours!!! Thanks a lot, back!!!!!

My niece and her best friend (we just call her a niece as well, we love her so much!) came over yesterday for a get well visit. We were going to have bbq chicken, but the rain told us no; so it was oven baked bbq chicken with oriental salad and fresh fruit...mmm-mmm good!!!

The girls cut up all the fruit, set the table and then cleaned everything up; I wish I had them here with me all the time, they're so fun!

I think I'm going to head upstairs and try some sewing, see how that works out! I'm still low on the energy level and that stinks!

I know the joke is yuck, but it's funny.;) My father always loves to tell it to my nieces and nephews. I love it sew, too. I made my first purse out of a pair of child's jeans last weekend. I've gotten alot of raves from it.
Give it time and your energy will come back. Just don't over do it.
