Well I talked with the surgery scheduler today. My date is set. scool
I was as nervous as all get out as I talked to her. It seems so final. rolleyes
I'm supposed to go Thanksgiving week for my pre op and an EDG. Then if everythings okay the surgery is set for Dec. 21st. My little Christmas present to myself -an acid free life.
She warned me it may change as the day gets here and I'll have to adjust for it. My boss keeps telling us don't take days unless there is an emergency, because funds are so tight for subs. nono

Well, he may just have to bit the bullet for me. devil smilewinkgrin

Hi Joy,
Congratulations on getting your surgery date! You're headed towards an acid free life, and it's something worth waiting for! I have all good wishes for you. I hope everything goes really well.

Don't worry about missing school. The most important thing is that you're taking care of yourself and doing what you need to do to get healthy. No job is more important than that! I had to miss school for my surgery, and although it required lots of work getting ready for a long-term sub, it was well worth it. I just wish I'd done this years ago.

Take care, Joy! As Kitt says, we'll be your cheerleading squad! yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

Joy-
It's awesome you have your date set. Now you just have to get through the waiting period! I hate that part.

Congratulations Joy!, (I love that name..Joy!)...why is taking them until December? I must have missed that part when I was gone..

Marie, there were times when I had a clicking sound as well, strange as can be, but then again, I am strange!!! Mine however, could be heard, felt, when I would first woke up in the morning, I could hear it as I was breathing in. The good folks in Cleveland couldn't really explain it, but since it has been gone since the surgery, they figure it had something to do with it...go figure!

I think that everyone has individual symptoms, most of which fit into a tidy little set that is diagnosed as GERD, LPR, NERD, you name it. Then there are all of the different things that make us all individuals and we have these oddities (speaking for myself here!!!) this is where the science of medicine becomes the art of medicine and we have to rely on the people that we have selected to do their best. This clicking is one of those things, I believe that just because it doesn't fit into the tidy package, doesn't mean that it isn't real, because it is. Mine went away, hold onto hope that yours will too.

I'm trying to schedule my surgery times during my time off.

My county is having a very tough time paying for subs and I want to help out as much as I can. We are allowed funds for 2 1/2 days of subs per teacher. eyes
If we spend too much money on subs they start threating to close down our small school and busing the kids to one of the bigger schools. I don't want to transfer schools or loose my job because of budget cuts. shakehead
We've already lost two teachers and a parapro this last cut. skull

Joy yeah

Hey, I know this sounds weird, but do anyone of you suffer from embarassing gas? blush
I seem to toot all the time and I can't control it. blush nono

Joy,
People with GERD swallow more often and then swallow a lot of air. This tends to be the culprit behind the "gas" issues. Once the reflux is "fixed" and we learn to swallow normally it tends to let up. At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Hi Joy,
Too bad your sub situation is so dire. We don't have any limits on sub use in districts around me. The only limit is the number of sick days we have--and we even have a sick bank for teachers who run out. It's good that you were able to schedule during a vacation break. It should help you out a lot. Hopefully your procedure will allow you to get back to school right away!

Are you going back to school soon? We start early this year--Sept. 1st--before Labor Day. Keep in mind that we don't get out of school until the end of June! This year I've been working so hard on getting our house ready to sell. The school is under renovation, so we couldn't get in to work this summer. It was good timing for me, since I couldn't have gone in anyway.

I hope your beginning of the year goes well!
Take care,
Denise

Today is the fifth day of school. I've got 17 of the little babies. Everyone of them is as sweet and well mannered as ever. I wonder how they will be once the "honeymoon" is over. Hopefully they will still be good.

Hi Joy,
Have fun with your little rug rats! Here's hoping the honeymoon lasts all year!
We haven't been able to get into school to set up our rooms yet. Hopefully soon! It'll be hard not to have some time to work before the kids come in. I like to spend a lot of time getting things organizing so the year runs easier. I'm retiring after this year, so it'll be an interesting one for me.
Have a great weekend!

OOOOOOO! You lucky dog! I've got 20 more years to go. mad

My best friend and coworker just retire and I miss her something terrible at work. We could plan lessons very easy together. Also I could vent to her during the day. devil

Now I've got a new coworker who has already declared I was very unprofessional to her. cry
I wanted to do something different in math from her and I asked the principal if it was okay for me to be different from her. When I informed her that he said it was okay, she misunderstood what I said and thought I was tattling on her for not doing the same thing!

Ugh! the problems with working with someone new! mad shakehead

Griff, He's frustrated because he can't fire you for missing work due to illness. If he did you could sue the pants off of him! A friend of mine was threaten with firing because she has eye problems and has to miss work due to doctor appointments. She threaten to sue and they leave her alone now.
Tell the underling she can have it over your dead body. Even if you don't care. It will shut her up.
