Hey Griff,
When I first got back from surgery, I went with cream of wheat, rather than oatmeal, because it's a bit more processed and easier. I bought all kinds of things, like ensure and boost, etc, but ended up not needing any of them. Everyone's different, but I found I never needed liquid nourishment once I got home. I don't know how you like your eggs, but scrambled soft is very easy to handle.

We're in Ottawa, Canada for a wedding, and having a great time. After working all summer getting our house sold, it's nice to have a special get-away.

As far as soda goes, I haven't tried it. I'm not a fan, and I wouldn't want the extra gas. Beer on the other hand, I'm handling just fine. I've probably been enjoying a beer every so often since about 4 months. Even though it has bubbles, they're natural carbonation, and not as extreme as soda. I haven't had any hard liquor...some wine, though. Wine is a little harder on my stomach, but okay with food.

All I can say is any change I've needed to make are more than worth it with how it helped my lungs.
Have a great weekend, everyone!
rafael: yay! thanks for the support, how u feeling from urs?
I wish I could say I was better. I saw my Family Doctor in Tuesday since I had not seen hime since a month before the surgery. Just a fallow up. We talked for a bit and then he asked me to lay donw and with out notice he pushed on my stomach, right over my wrap then over my kidneys!! He said he was just checking rolleyes . I felt a bit funny inside as I was walkingou of his office and I started to swell inside again a few hours later. The burning/inflamed feeling has been back since and so have the palpitations.  He didnt do it on purpose though, He's a good doctor and the reason for me getting the help I needed. I just dont think he used his beter judgement. I blame my self as well for not contesting when he asked me to lay down.

So, dont let any one push on your stomach 3 weeks out of surgery nono

Be well,
Rafael

hello all and hugs!!!  happy early labor day...
unfortunately i just got bk from a two day stint in the er... ugh.. went to my normal doctor about shaking, which turned into anumber of anxiety attacks, esophagus spasms, and couldnt breathe.... and than passed out a number of times while walking with one of the doctors... so now im constantly weak, tired, having to take potasium and vitamins along with the omeperazole... and plenty of food (not today i ate a lil bread a couple hours ago and im done for the day i cant handle anymore food...)... and the doctors only reasonig was my acid is getting way worse... i need the surgery soon (setp 28th... sigh), and that its causing tons of anxiety issues in my body... to probably drop my semester of school because i cant handle all the walking and stress they told me... just work eat relax and sleep til surgery.. sigh so im bummed.. im gonna try and work tomorrow morning and hope for the best... my luck currently sucks... ah well least i hope to be doing better tomorrow.. i hope and pray:)
denise:  ill remember to pick sum up i actually really like cream of wheat already!:)  any other chew food suggestions?
raf:  aw well ill be with ya soon man... ill remember no touchy touch for MONTHS!  hows everythin else? hopefully all that swelling goes down!

Griff, glad to see you are doing well. I still remember how awfull it used to feel to spend nites in the ER over "stress". Ugh!

Hopefully you can relax and just think about how good it will feel to be done with this once you get your surgery done. Unfortunatly stress makes this way worse. Dont worry about school. It will be there when you get better. My wife had to drop out this semester too so she can help here while I recover.

Me, still the same issues. Swelling and palps. Hopefully I will get better soon. This rolercosater ride is getting a bit old. I know there is nothing I can do but rest so thats what I'm doing. I try to not spend so much time in bed but my bed is so cumfy!!

Griff, stay focused. The day will be here before you know it!!

Take care,

Rafael

Griff-
Man, I am feeling for you. I was having some anxiety attacks while dealing with the kidney stone and that is a horrible feeling. Strange how it hits you and there is nothing you can do about it. Even when you know what is happening. When is your surgery date again? Sounds like they need to move it up and quickly. This thing can really mess with your body. Take care of yourself and try to have a great Labor Day!

Griff, I understand your anxiety; I was a mess before my surgery. I hope you can find a way to relax a bit; it helped me a ton to be on the forum before my surgery...everyone helped to ease the tension. Make plans do things to pass the time..I mean go to the zoo, watch movies, talk on the phone, go hiking..do stuff and I hope you'll feel better!

Griff-
Hang in there my friend. 3 weeks sounds like a life time when you are having issues as you are. It will soon be here though. I get to return to work tomorrow, well if the company doctor says I can. I have mixed feeling about that as well. Still can't shake this pain in the shoulders and neck area.
Janice has great advice about finding something to help you relax. Hope you find a way.

Take care,
Bill

Griff,

I understand anxiety well and it is part of my daily life so know I am here supporting you. smhair

I agree with the others, keep busy and try not to anticipate how long 3 weeks sounds.  You will soon have the procedure behind you.

I am here cheering for you with everyone else.

Hugs

Kitt

Griff,

Even though I know you don't want to, I think staying out of school this semester will really help with your recovery.  You won't have to worry about carrying heavy books etc.  Take the time to really let your body heal.  When it is in a lot of trouble when you have the surgery, it takes longer to heal.  But if you remember not to lift anything, anything more than 5-10lbs and let the wrap heal you will be great.

Everytime you think about lifting something, ask if having a redo would be worth it.

Hope all of you out there feel better soon.

HEy Griff
I understand how hard it is waiting for the surgery. Try to take it just one dy and at a time.
Before you know it your surgery day will be here and you will be feeling better. I kept myself busy at work and just concentrated on making it through the day. Hang in there Griff I will keep you in my prayers. (((((((((((((((((((Griff))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Just like the old christian hymn:
"One day at a time, sweet Jesus. That's all I'm asking from you......."

Take it one day at a time and before you know it your date will be here.

Griff-
I was out from 7-26 until 9-7 officially, but I am still not back to work and having more tests this week. Either tomorrow or Friday. They think something is wrong with the duct. Hmmmmm I said that 2 weeks ago. Anyhow, please relax and take everything in stride until your surgery. Everyday is one day closer my friend.

Take care,
Bill

I take 1000mg of potassium everyday. It doesn't help me. Maybe for you?
