Howdy!
Well made it through the night and didn't get forced in tonight. I can use the next 2 days to recoup some. The twisting and turning carrying the parts took a toll on my ribs and side. getting very curious if the CT showed anything now since the pain is definitely still there. I'll find out the 1st. All in all it was a good night, just took forever for 6:30 to get here.

Anne- The side pain had pretty much gone away until tonight. It still was tender if the doctor pushed on it, but didn't bug me other wise. The shoulder and ribs won't give it up though. Just figure it is something I'll have to live with. Now that it has been 21 months for the ribs I am sure it won't completely go away. The injections don't last more than about 5 weeks at best. Mostly only about 3 weeks.

Barb- Sorry you are having difficulty sleeping still. Sure was sounding promising the other night. Hopefully you can get some good sleep this weekend.

Take care,
Bill

Hey Bill glad you made it through work ok. I think once I get this draining sinus thing under control I'll get some more good sleep. At least before the draining starts I get some good sound sleep in. I'm planning on getting plenty of it this weekend. And on that note I am off to bed. Barb

Bill hope your not in too much pain today and doing ok.

Hey all hope you had a good day. Mine was busy. Went to the farmers market and then October fest. The second was not a good idea. I did not realize there would be all that smoke from the grills along with the cigarettes. When my sister and I turned around to go back down the avenue you could just see the smoke in the air. I should have went back to the car right away but of course didn't do the smart thing. My sister that went with me said I looked like a drug addict the way I was shaking from my meds. I told her better to do that and be able to breath. My hubby even picked on me for it as he didn't want to hold my hand any more while we were sitting there as he couldn't stand the shaking. We enjoyed the bands though. I also enjoyed eating some foods I don't normally. I told my hubby it was not a good place for some one on steroids to be. Lol. Have a good night all. My youngest sister is going to sleep over and she is going to do some cleaning to get rid of any dust we have about. We should have a fun time tonight with her and the 2 kids. Hope you all have a good night too. Barb

Howdy all-
I made an appointment with the Thoracic surgeon again to get this rib pain stopped. made it almost 5 weeks I think this time. Much better than 1 or 2 weeks. It's been a long busy day. My daughter got asked to play for another team that needed some help this weekend and since we weren't playing I let her. My best friend and I went to the woods and put up our deer stands. Got the 4 wheeler stuck twice and a 1 hour job took 4 hours to do. I sure am not liking this week leg muscle issue. Trying to do more stairs and more walking, but it's not coming back very fast at all. Actually I am not sure I have seen any improvement the last 2 weeks. I am starting to gain back the upper body strength slowly. After that I had to take another shower and head to the "Sluggerfest". It is our first annual softball organization fall party. One of the families has a farm and a lake property attached. The girls did some work in the batting cage to start the day off. Then we had a row boat race and fishing derby. Followed by dinner that consisted of Hardee's hamburgers, hot dogs, walleye, curly fries, and way too many desserts! Our team manager owns some local Hardees and we used the cooking trailer they have for special events. After dinner they had fun on the hayrack rides until dark. Then it was bonfire time with fireworks. I broke out the guitar at my daughter's request and we picked and sang around the campfire until almost 10pm. It was a great day! We had the girls from 3 of our 6 teams there, the others were in a tournament today out of town and couldn't make it. It was such a hit we are planning a possible second one at Halloween.
It was a rough day for equipment though. We had a flat tire on the golf cart, 4 wheeler, hayrack and a broken prop on one of the fishing boats. All were fixed and able to be enjoyed the rest of the day. I was s impressed with the way all the families came together and had such a wonderful time. Anytime you can get 36 to 40 families together and everyone has a great time it's amazing. We even toughed out some nasty weather early on. The rain hit about 12pm and finally gave way to clear skies about 5 pm. Had just enough rain to make things good and soggy, but it couldn't stop those young ladies from having fun. Actually I think the muddier it was the more they liked it.
I hope everyone else had a wonderful day as I did! I wish everyone a great day tomorrow!

Kitt- You are right this thread is awesome. It is more than just one person's story and I love to read all the things everyone is doing. I hope it continues to grow. It warms my heart to see so much shared and so many people helped here.
Take care,
Bill

Joy-
I am trying to remember that. It does get hard to do some days. I actually got to go watch my daughter play today. It was a welcome break to just sit and watch her for a change.

Wow Bill, it sounds like you really had a fun filled day. I love doing out door things like that myself. I found out after yesterday though that I am going to have to watch it for a while. The smoke from all the grills really got to me. The food sure was good though. My youngest sister slept over last night with her kids and we watched movies. It was a nice end to a full day. I made a big breakfast this morning and then we all went to church. I love having family around. I so wish my grandchildren were close but it does help to have my nephews and nieces around. My youngest niece and great niece are only a year older than my granddaughter so it's lots of fun when they get together and we have tea parties. Our house is all quiet now with my sister and the kids gone. Perhaps it is time for a nap in my chair. Hope you had a great day. Barb

Barb and Bea-
Sounds like you 2 had a good weekend also. After a great weekend tonight is really bad. The shoulder and ribs are relentless tonight. I would really like to shoulder block the door way. I think it would feel better than what is going on now. I have an appointment with the Thoracic Doc tomorrow and it's just in time too. I am glad they were able to get me in for a morning appoinment. He is uaually very busy on Fridays and Mondays. Got lucky or they are just being nice, not sre which one. It is definitely time for a set of injections and probably should have called him earlier last week.
My daughter enjoyed subbing for another team this weekend, but also said she didn't like the fact that they messed around and didn't take the games serious. She also said all they do is talk about boys. She will be happy to be with her team this coming weekend and be with players who are serious about the game. The one thing she takes seriously is softball. She loves that sport. Even with all the dirt, bumps, and bruises she loves to play.

Take care,
Bill

I love this thread...........and reading Bea's Grandbabies birthday party experience made me laugh and cry........what a great lady you are Bea.  Isn't it wonderful to have a grandchild to dote on ?  Our youngest grandchild turns 6 on 10/22.  She is in school now and is big into playing teacher at home.  I am to come up with a gift of goodies for her to use to play school.  smilewinkgrin   I will be off to the Mall here shortly.

Bill,  So glad you had the chance to sit back and watch your daughter play ball.  I can tell by your posts how proud you are of her and how much you enjoy doing something you both love together.

Ouch the dang pain just had to flare last night............I am sorry and hope that today you get some answers from your Thoracic Doc .  Do let us know how your appointment goes today.

Barb,  I am always amazed at your wonderful outlook on life and how you enjoy your family and friends to the fullest.  I love to read what you are doing and it does sound like so much fun at your house.

It does my heart good to know you are surrounded by family that loves you and you are obviously the heart of your wonderful family.  BBQ, love it but I am sorry the smoke was triggering your asthma issues.

Happy Monday to All

Kitt

Took one of my grandbabies out to eat the other day. While we were waiting for food she was reading the posters. She pretended to be a teacher we gave her a straw to use as a pinter and she read the poster then askjed us questions about it. She is so sweet.

Hi Y'all-
Well my Thoracic Dr. wants to try to get the insurance to pay for Lyrica again. He thinks they might now because we have tried about everything else. I did get the injections, so tonight will be miserable. Tomorrow should be a lot better though. He doesn't want me to go into work tonight either, so the injections can have time to work before I abuse myself at work. Other than an incredibly long night things are a little better this afternoon. I am going to veg out today as per doctor's orders. I'll stop by later tonight my friends.

Take care,
Bill

Ahhhhhhhh Bea and Mary your so lucky to get to spend time with the little ones. How precious they are. They grow up so fast.

Bill, you take it easy tonight and let those shots work. I'll pray that your insurance gives you the medicine you need. I never got around to calling the doctors office today and he was off in another town any way today but I'm calling the case manager tomorrow and talk to her about getting me the nasonex that works for me instead of the crap the insurance decided I should have instead. It doens't work and the post nasal drip irritates the heck out of the asthma. I'm bone tired tonight and sick of coughing. I didn't take as many treatments and don't know if it would have mattered any way with the postnasal drip. Oh well will try to take care of all of that tomorrow along with ordering a cake that I forgot about for my daughters party tomorrow night.

Hey Kitt, I have my days and today wasn't one of them. Way too much coughing and when I looked through my chart from the hospital I found that the doctor had seen mild emphysema on my xray. That was pretty depressing to see. I'll have to have my doctor look at the CD they sent with me of the xrays. Well no time to be depressed as we are having my sisters over for a cookout and birthday cake for my daughter tomorrow. I will have to call the bakery in the morning as I forgot about the cake. I want something special for my special daughter who has done so much for us. I do love having family close and doing fun things with them. My youngest sister likes to just come over and hang out with us as do her kids. Every one thinks our house is the party house. We do have plenty of them here. I am the oldest in the family and since our mom and dad are both gone we do most of the family gathering at our house and really enjoy doing it. Well I am bone tired and my sleeping pill is kicking in along with the zyrtec, singulair and elevil. Yawn. Good night all. Barb

Good Morning World,  Good Morning Bill,

I have to work today so of course I woke up at 3;30 AM and could not get back to sleep so by 4:00 AM I just got up and came here.  First day at Kennedy School this year.  This will be my 5th day subbing so far in September.  I am going in early to find my way around this Health Office and get logged onto computer etc.  I will be fine but the anxiety is a wee bit high, will come down once I get there.

Bill, I am glad you got your injection and sure do hope Lyrica will be covered by your insurance. It is a shame that the newest meds are always so expensive  and the insurance does not want to pick them up.  Argh !!!

You know I am a rooting for you always as you are the Man !  turn

Almost October and wondering how your leaves are doing south of us?  We have very little color yet however the weather is finally starting to cool down at night.

Well you keep on being a vegetable until your feel relief from your injection.........should be better today I hope.

Barb,

Howdy there and a birthday.............I love cake you know?  It is really great that you are the center of your family and I know that having a close knit family is a huge support for you when dealing with the problems and issues you have had this past year.  Happy Birthday to your special daughter.

I am providing the cake for my granddaughter's B-Day party on 10/22 and it will be chocolate with chocolate frosting............from our wonderful bakery here in town.  Thank God for bakeries.  turn

I am sorry to read you have some mild emphysema going on.  Make sure you do get your Doctor to look at those CD's.

Wondering if you have had your seasonal flu shot and the pneumonia shot?  I would think you would be a candidate for both of these as well as the H1N1 when it is available.

Well my friend, enjoy your day and also know it is OK to feel a bit down at times but then remember how much you are loved and do just what your doing...........living life to the fullest.

Blessings to both of you this morning.

Hugs

Kitt

Hi Y'all-
Today is going very well so far. The ribs are behaving just wish the shoulder would get the message.
Anne- Thank you for the kind words. I try my best to not let things get to me. Some days are harder than others though.

Barb- Sure hope you can get the Nasonex. I also agree with Kitt and hope you do get the cd to your doctor. Have great time with your daughter's Birthday party.

Kitt- Hope you have great day at school today. I think what you do is wonderful.

Take care,
Bill

Hi Kitt, I love cake too. Especially from our bakery. It turned out so pretty with the purple and blue butterflys on it. And talk about yummy. I was out by the fire for a little bit but couldn't seem to toloerate the cold air and smoke. I fell aleep at my computer tonight so my hubby woke me up. I guess that means it's times to go to bed. My lung doctor doesn't seem interested in looking at the CD and said i shoulnd't worrry about the Low potassium and B.S. spikes. So I will bring the information to my heart doctor who I think will be concerned about this. Not that I am a fan of needles but someone shoud be watching this. The lung doc did offer to let me try a sample of another nasal spray to see if it worked better that the other stuff the insurance company pushed off on me. I can't get my flu shot until I am over this according to the Lung doctor since I am on an antibiotic for infection. I hope you have a good night both of you. I had fun with all my siteres and My precious daughter Heidi. Barb

Awww sorry Joy my cakes long gone. Sweets don't hang around for long at our house. Especially our local bakery cake. We only get them for birthdays though. Well I'm off to work for the night. Have a great night all. Barb

Howdy!
Well this week was a real bummer. Even with the nerve block Monday I wasn't able to go to work. It started to take effect, but only last a day. The doctor wants me to see what happens through the weekend. He had me off all this week to try and let the meds work. He also wants me to try Lyrica because the Neurontin has stopped working. We tried this before, but the insurance wouldn't pay for it because it isn't diabetic neuropathy. My doctor said since it haas been a year or more since we tried it and we have tried many other meds that failed he is going to fight them this time. He actually said we are going to get this even if I have to kick them in the butt.
Still waiting for the MRI results for my shoulder. Michelle saw our PCP yesterday and he said he believes it is something in the trap muscle area causing the pain. Not sure if that would explain it going down my arm and making my arm and hand numb.
We are supposed to play softball this weekend, but it has been raining for 2 days and isn't supposed to stop until Sunday. So I don't think we will be playing this weekend.

Take care,
Bill

Dear Bill,

Good Morning and I am so sorry to hear your week was a bummer.................part of the bummer for me was the HW site going down for over 24 hours and some of our post are now missing so I am trying to remember what was posted that is missing.
I was lost without my connection to all of you !

I am hoping the insurance company will come through on covering Lyrica for you. Also I hope it works !

It has been raining here for the last 3 days so I know what your getting down your way in the weather department. Sorry this postpones your ball games. I do know how much you love to go to the games.

Please know I am here for you and hoping that you will finally get the answers you need to dx just what is causing all of your pain.

Gentle Hugs

Hi Bill, sorry that you had such a bad week. You can't seem to catch a break. Take it easy this weekend and try to rest. I look at rain as Gods way of saying get some extra rest.  tongue  I think your doctor is right about you getting the medicine you need now since other things were tried and it has been a while since you took the other stuff. I am going through the same thing with the nose spray and the my nurse case manager through the insurance company said all my doctor has to do is tell the insurance that we tried the other stuff and it's not working. I told her how my doctor says he doensn't know why it's not working because it is basically the same thing and she said sometimes the generic doesn't work as well for some reason. Right now the doc is having me try a rhinecort sample to see if that works. I don't know why he doesn't just give me the nasonex that we know works. At least you have your doctor on your side to fight for you. If my lung doctor doesn't give me the nasonex I am going to talk to the allergy doc or my regular doc as this is kind of ridiculous. Oh well hope your weekend is going bettter than your week did. Take care. I am off to take a nice long nap. Barb

Howdy all-
Well we did have our games today We just had 2 instead of three. We went 1-1. We should take 2nd in pool play. We won the first by one and lost the second by one. Great games and someone has to win. Tomorrow is supposed to be better weather, no rain just sunny and cool. We have to be at the diamonds at 7am.

Kitt- I was having Healing Well withdrawls while the site was down. Seemed a lot longer than it was.

Barb- You get a lot of rest this weekend if you can my friend. You sure do need it with all you have been through. Hope the docs get you the meds you need. I know what it's like to have to fight the insurance company. The nerve pain is a bit worse without the neurontin, but I want to see if I can get the Lyrica before I refill the neurontin.

Take care,
Bill
