Hello I'm new here and have a few question maybe someone can help with.
I had my surgery 3 months ago and for about 2 weeks I felt great other than the pain . No coughing and no junk in my throat and no burning..
Well I have had burning for the last 3 wks and now the coughing at night and the junk in my throat is back..Could it be the surgery didn't work ????
I truely don't want to have to go through all that again...
HELP

Dear dmh

Welcome to HealingWell and we are so glad you found us.  I am sorry to hear you are having issues and I know you will recieve some great advise from our members who have had the same procedure.

I just wanted to welcome you to the GERD/Heartburn Forum.  I have not had the surgery.  :-)

I hadn't had the surgery, but it sure sound suspect. Have you taked with your GI? He can do a endo and see if things are slipping.

The best thing to do is get with your surgeon or GI and ask them about this. They should order an EGD to look at things, but that in tiself won't always tell much unless things are very irritated. My Nissen was done wrong and according to the 13 plus EGDs the wrap was perfect. Well they can't see it and tell for sure it is good or not by EGD alone. Don't let anyone tell you they can. I am living proof they can't. I was told for almost 3 tears it was good and it wasn't. If that doesn't show anything ask for a new ph study. that is the best test to show is there is anything coming up. Be it acid or bile. The bravo test isn't as good as the wired one either. It has to be placed 5 inches above the LES to be accurate. The bravo has too many false positives and negatives because they can't be sure it is in the exact place needed.
If you are having symptoms still it is time to get with the doctors and have them find out what is going on. Don't settle for so so answers. IF they don't want to help, fire them and find someone who will.

Take care,
Bill
