Just wanted to update everyone on my recovery.
Dermabond is gone now. Cuts are red and itchy lines.

No pain meds needed for 10 days now. No Antinausea meds for 12 days.

My constant cough I lived with for almost four years is gone! turn turn turn turn

I'm on mushy foods now (Things you would feed a baby). eyes

As long as I eat slowly and don't overeat I don't have any discomfort.

I'm still limited to lifting no more than 5 pounds. I don't bend over for more than 5 seconds.

I've lost 14 pounds. smilewinkgrin

Pre-surgery: nexium 2X a day and a 300 zantac. Post-surgery: 1 nexium (which maybe gone soon as soon as the doctor says so).

I'm starting back to work on Tuesday. mad

Great news Joy and I am sure you will continue to do well as the healing continues. You have been a great resource for so many here like each of our other members who has chronicled their journey through the surgery and treatments.

Thank you so much from all of the members.

Well, I've expanded my food to crushed pineapple and chow mein noodles.
Out of curiosity I tried on dorito today. I nibbled slowly and took very small bites. It did ok.
I also munched on a brownie. It seems okay.

I tried mushed up noodles tonight, it was yummy!
I don't think I'm getting enough water lately. I've been waking up with my mouth so dry at night I can't spit. This has been going on since the surgery.

Today was the first day with the kids at school. I forgot myself and toted the breakfast bucket to the door. I felt some pulling. I also forgot and lifted an empty desk. (oops!) I'm a little tender tonight from it.

Joy-
Easy on that lifting stuff! You are far enough along that probably won;t do any damage, but will feel like it did. I got yelled at by my surgeon after the first Nissen because I filled the fish tanks and was carrying 2 3 gallon buckets at once and lifting them up to the tanks. This was 2 weeks after surgery. He wasn't too impressed with me for that.

Take care,
Bill

I was better today, no lifting.
I tried some different foods today:
Corn dog (small bites & chewed well)
Cheese and breadsticks (small bites)
pimento cheese
potato chips (small handful, let them dissolve to mush then chewed up)
popcorn (took out the kernel and dissolved them to mush)

Popcorn is sitting kinda heavy but okay.

OK, Popcorn- bad!
I had some popcorn the other day. It did not digest well. Caused major bloating!

Today I had some chicken nuggets. I had to chew very well, but it went well.
Over did it with some zaxby's tater chips tonight though. I've got hiccups.
Enjoyed a frappocino also.

Mookie and babygirl, how is your eating coming along? Are you getting more solids?

I've been eating whatever I want pretty much. I've had chicken nuggets with fries for lunch today and a sandwich for dinner. I've been sticking to more pastas like ramen noodles or man n cheese. I haven't tried any beef tho. The only thing that I had a problem swallowing was a bite of a sandwich that was too big. A drink washed it down tho. A good munchy snack, I think, it cheese puffs! They turn to mush and are yummy!

Yea, I had a small hamburger patty the other night. It was hard to chew it to a mush.

I forgot to take my nexium Thursday night and had no trouble. Didn't take it tonight either and no problem.

My only pills I'm taking now is my thyroid, zyrtec, vytorin, and a vitamin. I need to get back on my fish oil but the pills are so big and I can't cut them. My eyes are really getting dry.

I decided not to take my lasix right now because I've been having alot of trouble with dry mouth and skin. I drink alot of water and Gatorade and still feel bone dry. It's been this way since the surgery. Go figure?

Take your time, mookie. I'm trying to avoid breads right now unless it's very crispy. Are you able to get something like minced meat or potted meat in England? If the meat is mushy like what you feed a baby just learning to eat solids try it. Or even baby food would help.

The irritated scar may be a stitch trying to come up. It may dissolve like it's supposed to, but don't be scared if it actually does pop through. I had a couple pop through one scar, and Bill had some too. It's not unusual. For my first, I cleaned everything with hydrogen peroxide and pulled the thread gently with tweezers. It hung up, so I got my husband to clip it real short while I pulled. Then I let go and it went back in and I put some steri strips on it. The second one just pulled out easily. They don't hurt. No need to go to the ER.

Joy and Michelle - Avoid beef in chunks for a LONG time. I'm 2 1/2 months out and still don't swallow or digest solid beef easily. I'm glad you are being careful. It pays off!

Sounds fine. I don't eat more than 6 oz. right now. Sometimes I get so hungry that I forget and overeat. Then I feel like I'm having a little reflux. :<

Mookie-
The stitch popping trough is rally no big deal. It gave me some entertainment while at the hospital until it let loose. LOL! OF course my wife yelled at me when ever I would start messing with it.

Take care,

How long does it take for the redness and bumpy feeling of the cuts to go away?

Joy, 4 of my incisions are white. The one in the middle is still dark red and has the lump under it yet.

I know how you feel Michelle. It's getting frustrating

Oooops! I ate too much tonight. I had five chicken strips and some fried taters. I feel bloated and hiccuping. Time to back up some and go lighter. Rats!
