Bad symptoms started a couple months ago- esophageal spasms and bad inflammation in the esophagus.  At the worst of it had a difficult time swallowing...it was bad.  Symptoms now is mid chest feel as though I have a thorn stuck there at times, it can lead to a more widespread burn across my chest from that area.  I have been on the ppi's, eating really bland, doing everything to help the situation..  I was diagnosed with acid reflux about 6 years ago(along with crohn's)

I was so nervous to get the results of the biopsies today- turns out I have a condition I was born with- I have a patch of stomach lining/cells in my esophagus- mid chest where I have been having symptoms.  This patch acts as a stomach does, it produces a small amount of stomach acid.  Treatment is to continue on with the losec twice a day.

There was a long name to it but I don't remember it...does anyone also have this?  I never heard of this before..  He said there was no barets, crohn( I also have crohn's) or any other damage.

Thanks for reading

That is a unique condition. I've never heard of that before. They can't do anything like operate to remove it?
That's rough.

I found out it is called gastric heterotopia- no surgery, he said it is too risky based on where it is..all I can do is take the ppi's to reduce acid production
