I am having trouble eating enough calories to maintain weight. I'm 6feet 178 pounds but I cannot put seem to put enough calories down because my darn Lower sphincter doesn't seem close anymore which is strange given my issue started 2 months ago and I didn't have reflux before that. Well I'm happy to hear any ideas as to how to feed myself without turning my esophagus into my stomach. I currently stoped taking my ppi's and doing mastic / DGL with probiotics and digestive enzymes. I do have 75mg zantac at my side just in case I think I over did it. Sometimes I think the only way to get the calories requires I burn.

btw mine came after like 13 days on antibiotics, which i probably didn't need to take in retrospect.

droper, my acid reflux came on very sudden also.  I've lost 12 lbs.  since this all started i'm 5ft. 2 in.  and am down to a hundred and two pounds.  I drink ensure +  it's easy on the stomach, and has probiotics in it.  Managed to gain two lbs. back.  It's expensive.  9.00 a six pak.  Doesn't taste too bad, actualyy kind of like it.

yeah I am taking a weight gainer:

, I found ensure had too much sugar. I find when things go bad I have to turn to the shakes to make up the difference. Dont know how healthy this is though.

Edit: link removed as it leads to a site that is selling a product...........posting the name of the product that you use would be fine.  Thanks,

people can live on ensure, it's tube feeding.  Sometimes I pullout the big guns and eat fast food.  Big Macs.  sometimes they make me sick and sometimes they don't.

I know food is a field now, I really miss pepsi.  I get pain immediately when I try to drink it.  Drank it for years and all of a suddden I can't.   You should take the PPis under a doctors supervision, they really do help.

Good Morning,

According to the tables I am familiar with the ideal weight for a large man, 6 feet tall is 158-179. At 178 you would fall into the normal weight for your height.

I have a husband who is 6 foot and is right now at 145 lbs due to illness and surgery. It has been recommended by the dietician that he eat 2700 - 3500 calories per day to gain weight. He uses the Ensure + as it has all the nutrients and also has 350 calories per bottle.

Good luck and hope this has helped you some.

I am more trying to wean off of the PPI's now doctor says keep taking them but at the same time i had an endoscopy last week and he says everything looks fine, no irritation... asked him about smaller dose and he just told me to keep taking 40mg for the month when I know 20 mg does the job since I've tested it. I'm going to give it a go and try and manage reflux with portion control and zantac with some natural stuff as well to keep things flowing. I dont like the PPI side effects of constipation etc. PPI imo is something you take if your stomach and esophagus needs healing otherwise you take histomine blockers which allow a bit more acid into your stomach given they dont block all the acid producing channels like PPI just the major one which is stomach histamine.

Its amazing how much I've read on this crap ... to think 2 months ago I had no idea what any of this stuff was and was nutritionally illiterate.

I just found this new thing called sequential eating read some good results about it I'm going to give it a go. I also puree all my foods now for max digestive speed and efficiency getting them out of the stomach as fast as possible.

Good luck btw, I'm glad there are forums like this to talk about this condition.
