I've had two fundoplications prior to my gastric pull up. Ive had my gastric pull up for about 4 years now. I have horrible reflux. I am not sure how my stomach is still perfectly fine.

I was just wondering if anyone knows if the esophyx tif is possible for me. My stomach IS my esophagus now. Any clues! my gastro didnt even know about the esophyx tif..ha ha

Your LES might have become weak? I'm not sure what a gastric pull up is? Did they shorten your esophagus? Have you had a barium swallow?
The esophyX will shorten your esophagus more.

I had most of my esophagus taken out and my stomach pulled up and attached to the little undamaged part of my esophagus.

So my stomach is in my chest and acts as my esophagus. I've had many barium swallows

The esophyx maybe will not be okay for you. Talk to another GI who does the surgery, he can help you better.

Hi Pandah,
Are you eating frequently with small meal?
Is your procedure called Esophagectomy?
I saw you wrote that your stomach is in place of the esophagus.
With Esophagectomy, I think the doctor shaped stomach into a tube
like esophagus to replace the orginal esophagus.

I don't think Esophyx Tif will be an option. I believe Esophyx is similar to
Nissen in that the doctor go down your throat to do the sewing, etc.
Since Esophagectomy is to mobilize your stomach into the tube fashion to replace the orginal
esophagus, the stomach is no longer in the same stage as before.

I saw these links - hopefully they may  be informative and helpful to you.
You should talk to your doctor and a specialist regarding to something
about Roux-en-Y.

I saw the link below something about if one has very bad reflux (bile) posted Esophagectomy,
then the Roux-en-Y procedure  is an  option that can help prevent further reflux.
Howerver, I do saw those links below while I was combing the net for some info
regarding to reflux, etc. See link below for more detail.

I also saw someone go by the name ceetay posted here on this forum regarding to
esophagetomy and
Roux-en-Y.

Here are the links:

for_debilitating_reflux_after_esophagectomy/

Pehaps, you can follow Ceetay link and ask Ceetay more question and details...
Take care.
Marie

Sorry folks, I was in your threads trying to find the cause of the stretched screen and findly found it in Marie's links.

Long links will stretch the screen so I corrected the problem......no harm done.

Thanks and have a good day.
