Today i have been felling pressure in my chest all day of and on but i have noticed that if i eat or when i drink it seems to get worse again. i tried antiacids but nothing seems to help. i have a hyatal hernia and have had the bravo done and my doctor said that my acid level is not bad enough to take a ppi, but i seem to be having this quite often plus my stomach doesnt empty as fast as it should. what are some of your thoughts and what kind of changes have you done?I am getting sick of this felling almost everyday.I had a ekg about two weeks ago and every thing is fine there.sad

My doctor said my acid wasn't very bad, but I coughed constantly from the acid getting in my lungs.
I had the surgery and am doing great.

Have you elevated the head of your bed 6-8 inches? Gravity will help the night time troubles some.

What kinds of medication are you taking?

I'd get a second opinion from another GI.

Thanks for replying couch tater.the doctor said to only take  any over the counter but i was on aciphex then kapidex then tried prevacid but he said that they were too strong for what i have plus everytime i took them i would get a pressure feeling in my upper abdomine like someone was pushing a finger in it.I havent tried the bed thing because i am not sure what my wife would say but it doenst hurt to ask.the doctor also said that i might have a virus that could last up to a year but i seem to find that hard to believe.he also said to try to eat smaller meals and to be honest i really dont know how small.even when i drink water it seems to get bad but maybe i drink too fast because of i am always in a hurry to get work done.i dont drink anything other than water or soymilk and occasional rasberry tea. I dont know, can gerd really last all day?I dont know if i should go back and see him again.I dont want to seem like a worry wart you know? Thanks again!

Virus that last all year? Does he think you have H. Pylora? You need several meds to cure it.

My father has GERD and my mother sleeps slanted right beside him. She jokes that during the night she slides off the pillow and climbs right back up again.

The eating fast can contribute to your discomfort.

Small meals are no more than a cup of food a meal. You can eat frequent, but limit the size.

Watch the acids filled foods.

Do go back to see him, tell him your discomfort and ask for further testing.
