Hi
I am 5 weeks out from my hiatal hernia repair and have not had any reflux although I did suffer with chest pain for a few weeks. My diet is pretty much back to normal but I still struggle with lamb or beef.  Most other foods I can get down if I take my time. I have seen my Dr and told him that all is going well, however, in the past week I have been experiencing burning in the throat.  Just wondering if this is because of my diet or whether the wrap has not been successful.

I would appreciate comments.

Hi Nette,
5 weeks post op is still very early in the recovery process. In the beginning stages of recovery, there are many very normal discomforts that are shared by those of us who've had our GI tracts rearranged by the surgery. It's a big adjustment for our bodies, and it will take time for the healing to be complete. Anything that happens before complete healing can very well be a completely normal. We don't always get the same twinges or discomforts, but we surely do get them.

I was told that most of the healing is complete at around six months post op, and the healing isn't complete until the year mark is reached. We've all been through the types of worries you're having. If you have any concerns you can contact your surgeon and ask to speak with him. It can be very comforting to touch base and hear what he/she has to say.

This too will pass...
Have a great day! Glad you've joined us!
Denise
