am i crazy or is taking 10,000 IUs of vitamin D3 alkalizing my system so well that (horrors) weaning off Prilosec is actually pain-and-discomfort free? by this time in the process i'm expecting to be suffering from raging bouts of heartburn, but nothing. i'm eating as if I were on Prilos and no drama(?) eyes

seems that vitamin D3 unleashes the power of calcium by coaxing one's system to maximum absorption, so when i looked at the highest dose and main ingredient of my pHion Alkalizing Minerals potion...you guessed it:  it's calcium! 450 mg per serving to be precise. my plan is to be off Prilosec completely by next week (now i'm staggering it to every third day) and start on Zantac 150 twice daily. my goal is to get off ALL antacids, stay on 10,000 IUs of D3 daily and hopefully be able to ward off chronic heartburn episodes with a quasi-vegan diet. will keep you posted.

im on day 5 w/o prilosec and no vicious episodes of heartburn. ive only had one zantac 150 in prep for a pork chop dinner, but back on the wagon. know that im prone to exasperating bouts of heartburn even by drinking AquaFina. by previous experience, the road to healing for me is about eating only small portions of alkalizing foods and avoding highly acidic foods and drink, such as wine and beer. the goal is to lose the weight which is the excess fat that compresses my insides that makes the stomach acid leak up through the esophageal valve. i accomplished this a few years back and healed so well that i could sneak an occasional white russian at dinner w/o discomfort, but a bad back injury landed me in anti-inflammatory hell and back on the prilosec since those meds really mess with your stomach acid. again, i really do believe vitamin D3 has had a lot to do with my getting off the proton inhibitors this time around w/o nearly the hb pain i suffered thru previously.

it's the vitamin that's naturally given off by sunlight, but turns out most americans are seriously deficient of its incredibly disease-preventing and palliative properties. my family MD ran a blood test and found out i was alarmingly deficient of this vitamin and he put me on a (supervised) "quick-gain" regimen in order to prevent cancer recurrence after my bout with prostate.
