hi everyone who had nissan fundo and is suffering like me, my life has been hell, I had to stop working, have constant nausea, bloating, pain, and can not vomit, I am desperate as my life is not worth living after the operation, I am seeking anybody who will redo the operation, note I did have the wrap undone, but that did not make any difference, I feel i will need surgery where they "unstitch" whatever was "stitched" while doing the first operation, please anyone with the same experience, help

Welcome to HW,

One of our moderators had a redone recently. He will be great in talking to you about it. He suffered for three years before they were able to fix him.
I'm sure he will be here shortly to talk to you. :)

thank you, how can I contact him? this is more precise description of my story
thank you thank you
Hi I am one of those very very unfortunates who had full Nissan fundoplication and partial antrectomy of the stomach with anaestomoses, selective proximal vagotomy in the area of ezofagialni hiatus – open surgery – two years ago with terrible, terrible consequences, before I had reflux – but that could be controlled with tablets- and was uncomfortable BUT I COULD LIVE WITH THAT. Had I known and researched before the op. I would have NEVER NEVER undergone the op. I have suffered since than like NEVER before.. After the operation I developed cholecystolithiases and had to have my gall bladder removed. So I am in my second year, I lost work due to the pain and discomfort – bloateness, nausea, dry heaves – very painfull, at night stomach cramps , fullness of the stomach (even if I do not eat before I go to bed) with foam in my mouth when I wake up – usually I lie awake in pain throughout the night. I was so DESPERATE I asked for the wrap to be undone, they did it BUT it did not reliéve any symptoms, I STILL can not vomit even if I get cold sweat and all the symptom sof pre-vomit but when I get up I just have uncontrollable fit of burps and heaves but nothing. I constantly burp and it is very painful. I am desperate to have FULL reversal with all the stitches being UNDONE. I have been feeling so unwell all the time that life is REALLY NOT worth living, from a girl with lots of interests, academic background, avid reader and full of vitality for life incl gentle exercise and sport of all kinds I ended up being WRECK that spends most of her time indoors, on the toilet with cramps and in terrible pain with not knowing who and where to turn to. I am also FULLY dependent on my parents as I can no longer look after myself. From working full time as an English lector – teaching children, adults, preparing for the state exams, local exams, translator of legal documents, books, internet web pages, co-author of English textbooks etc etc I ended up on FULL disability pension(which is only 180 EUROS - 5000 Czech Crowns a month ) I can no longer socialize, can not go for a drink and stopped going out altogether. I contacted several hospitals in the Czech republic but being sent from one clinic to another. Gastroscopy shows “Normal” results after the operation – with the afteraffects of the surgery - . X ray after drinking the liquid shows I nearly completely LOST all the motility of the stomach and it does not contract and moves so the food and liquid just sits there. Traveling to hospitals is also a strain due to the discomfort and pain. I have been SO desperate that I bought gastro-tubes and insert them through the nostrils, which is very painfull, to at least let out “some” terrible gastric juices that I have lying in the top of my stomach, it does not help however as it is not very effective and one never manages to “empty” the stomach if feeling sick. Due to the pain I went several times to the Emergency but they only gave me injection and turn me away with “again” the referral to psycho. It is all very distressing as the nausea is nothing to do with the mental state. This is worse throughout the night as it keeps me awake. My family and friends can not believe how downhill I went over the last year or so – neither do I. PLEASE ANYONE advice or help. Also I was of course sent to psycho-asylum, which I underwent on the request of my family with NO NO positive results whatso ever. Just a record on my medical record. I am SO desperate that I would spend all my savings, and even get a loan to get the FULL NISSAN Reversal as I can not live like that. THANK YOU

Bill is not in today. It's a holiday so he's with his family I believe. I promise you, he or the other moderator will be in tomorrow to talk to you. Meanwhile you can search his post to read about him. His posts are under opwhil.

I'm so sorry you are having so many problems. It sounds like you have some major problems.
I pray you find some relief very soon.

Hi Lena,
So sorry to hear the problems you've had after your Nissen procedure. Stories like yours kept me from having the courage to go forward with the surgery until I'd been on enough steroids (for my uncontrolled asthma) to cause adrenal insufficiency and as a result ended up with thinning skin that bruises and tears very easily.

I'd researched the surgery thoroughly and was well aware of all the risks and the very negative experience people had written about on the Internet. I was afraid that if I had the surgery the same thing would happen to me. However, I finally decided I had to give it a try, since my doctors said that my condition was life-threatening, and that they could not help me any more. Nothing they did to try to improve my lungs was making any difference. They remained extremely inflamed, and I was coughing constantly. I'd even been hospitalized for my asthma.

Fortunately, I was able to be referred to a surgeon who was amazingly well-qualified and experienced. He did a great job, and I have been fortunate enough to have been helped greatly by the surgery without all the negative reactions that you've described here. The surgery solved my lung problems and improved my health 100%.

This is a good forum for you to visit, as there are many experienced members who are happy to try to help and support you.

The moderator that Joy (Couchtater) talked about was Bill. Today is the 4th of July--our independence day in the USA. I'm sure he's busy with family picnics. When he has a moment I'm confident that he'll respond to your questions.

Again, you have my sympathy. It is obvious that you're suffering greatly.
Good luck with your quest to find a solution!
Denise

lena svata-
Hello, and welcome to Healing Well. I had many of your symptoms, but probably not as severe. I am so sorry you are having to endure this. I didn't have mine undone, but did have it redone. The reason for my redo was that it was done wrong the first time. My worst problem was that I had a very hard time getting anything to go past the wrap. Sometime liquids would get stuck.
I would go to a teaching hospital that has a swallowing issue department. It sounds like you are in Europe somewhere and I am not sure what your resources are. If you feel like contacting me direct my email is listed on my profile.

Take care,
Bill

Sorry, Nanc, I don't know of anyone who does reversals.
My surgeon who did mine had done a great deal of nissens. I don't know if he had done and reversals or repairs. You can try to contact him: Vito J. Bagnato in Albany, GA.
