Hi Mary,

I'm sorry to hear about your brother.  I personally do not know anyone who has had this type of cancer, but you may want to try this link.  It will take you to the cancer boards at webmd.com, and I'm sure someone there can help with your questions!

Best of luck!

Toni

Thanks Toni.

Well my brother had the CT scan and heard from the Dr. but all he said to him was you'll have to talk to the surgeon on Wednesday and they'll set up your surgery. They didn't even explain what stage heis in or the size of the tumor.I don't know why not.I really think my brother is in denial because I really don't think he has a clue on whats going to happen really. He seems to think he's coming home that same day.He seems to think they're just going to do endoscopy and thats it.Just use the instrument go down his throat and remove the tumor.

They also found a spot of Emphysema.

If anyone has any info. on esphogus cancer please explain what will happen.and recovery also.

Thanks so much Mary

I hate how evasive doctors can be!!!  Wednesday is a ways away ...

I imagine it must have come as quite a shock to your brother.  I'm sure once he talks to the surgeon, and becomes better informed about what stage he is in and options, he will probably be more receptive.  He's lucky to have a sister like you, who's there for him and trying to help.

I hope Wednesday consultation goes well!

Thinking of you,

Toni

Hi Toni,

Thanks so much for responding.Well my brother had his surgery on Tuesday and the tumor was about the size of a grapefruit where before surgery they said it was small. So now we have the waiting game again the pathology was suppose to give his report today but it hasn't come back yet of course. With the tumor being that size I wonder if he should of had chemo or radiation first. This is just making me sick to my stomach.
Thanks for listening Mary

You're welcome, Mary!

How is he recovering after the surgery? I'm so sorry they miscalculated on the size. But maybe with the tumor gone, there won't be a need for chemo or radiation. I hope the pathology results go well ... I'll be here!

And days go by
I can feel them flying
Like a hand out the window in the wind
And cars go by
Yeah it's all we've been given
So you better start living right now
Cause days go by
