Hi had my tests done yesterday at Shady Side Hospital in Pittsburgh. I had this yesterday
The manometry test was kind of uncomfortable but I did well. Think I swallowed four times when I shouldnt have swallowed. Just kind of have to think about not swallowing it is kind of hard with saliva gathering in your mouth plus having a tube in your throat. The nurses were really nice and said I did well. Of course I dont have a bad gag reflex. They werent supposed to tell me anything but did say they didnt see a problem which was good to know.
They did the scope and put the impedance wire in while I was out so I cant really tell anyone how it goes for being awake while it is put in your nose.
I dont seem too bad with it now. The tape on my face is kind of itching and the wire at my nose is annoying, and I can feel it at the back of my throat. When I swallow it kind of moves in my nose. So far it hasnt been anything I really cant stand.
They told me to eat normal. So that would be things that I didnt eat when trying to avoid acid reflux. I had ice cream that was ok, but I had a little grape tomato and I think the skin got wrapped around the tube and it took a while to get rid of that feeling. I tried to eat a hamburger and that didnt seem to go down well, but that was after the tomato so maybe that was the problem. I ended up not eating the hamburger and had a baked potato.
I was supposed to go back to the hospital today to get the tube out but they told me i could take it out myself and one of the nurses lives near my house so I can take it to her and she will take it to the hospital for me, which is really nice.
The dr said my LES valve was open which means the staples didnt hold from my TIF surgery. He said he is not doing the TIF surgery anymore because of failures. He didnt really go into detail about what happened with my surgery
The Drs office will call me to set up an appt. after they get the results of my tests. So I am in a hurry to find out. I will just have to wait LOL
