I've been a sufferer of GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) since I was a child. It seems when I get stressed, my GERD symptoms are at their worst (as are my IBS symtpoms). Of course, these symptoms only make me more stressed out and therefore cause more symptoms... Ugh.

I wonder how many people who have digestive disorders like GERD or IBS are also sufferers of anxiety?

Maybe if the poll shows that there is a high correlation, a little relaxation will be part of our cures!

Oh gosh talk about anxiety....yikes

I first posted here around 5 years ago several months after my sons passing. My main symptom was that i was having swallowing problems. I kept putting off getting the scope because i suffer from health anxiety and was scared what they would find. Finally a year later i went for the scope and guess what they found absolutely nothing wrong with me. funny after that all my symptoms went away.

Fast forward to 2010 I am under some more major stress and guess what the problem is starting over again. Again scared to go to doc because of the anxiety disorder that i suffer from...This whole thing is just a nightmare that keeps repeating itself. devil
