Hi Feline Fanatic,
Sounds like a deep breath and then a soak in the tub or a hot shower is in order. Panicking will not help your situation. You've posted pretty late at night so you probably can't see a doctor right now but you should make plans to see one tomorrow. The sensation of your throat getting tighter and a lump on your throat is more likely to be an infection than throat cancer. It's possible the lump could be a swollen lymph node or thyroid gland. I'm not a doctor (obviously) but for the time being self diagnosis and trolling message boards, such as this one, is only going to make you feel more anxious.

Hi there

I believe its very rare to have throat cancer unless you have been smoking on a pipe all your life and swigging back copious amounts of whisky. Most people I've heard of with this have been heavy smokers etc for decades. Its prob something else such as a cyst, a swollen gland or whatever. Keep calm and go see your GP -  Stressing won't help either way. Good advice not to self diagnose - we are not doctors.

Put on a comedy dvd and try to smile, it will make you feel much better.

cry  Thank You for the Replies,  I AM A HEAVY SMOKER!!!  43 + years.

I cannot see a DR. for weeks and sometimes MONTHS>  I have an appt. in a month to see an ENT, it has taken 5 months to get this appt.  I go to a Govt. hospital for low income and they don't take anything serious!!! It's a bunch of RESIDENTS seeing people like me so they can get thier Diploma saying  "DR"  to tell you the truth, they TERRIFY me.
I won't go into it,but I have GOOD REASON TO BE TERRIFIED!!!

I could go to the E.R. and wait 12 to 24 hiurs to see someone, only to be told to make an appt. with my primary.

EXAMPLE:  I went to the E.R> with a broken arm (as per x-ray) gave me pain med., I had to make an appt. with my PRIMARY/GP so he could put a refferal in the comp. for me to see an otho. It tooks 3 weeks to get an appt. with the Ortho. told I should have been in phys. therapy 2 weeks after break, took another 5 weeks to get an appt. with phys. therapist!!!
I HAVE TO WAIT!!!  The longer it takes, the more PANIC!!!
I AM IN A CATCH 22 !!!!!!!!!!!

I have to live with this GOV. B. S. EVERYDAY!!!!!

I am sorry to read your so worried but you have received words of wisdom from the members.  Try not to become obsessed with googling every sx and if you are still worried do see your physician. Searching the internet  is a fast road to disaster when your anxiety is already spiking.

If your physician feels it is something serious and endoscopy would be in order.

Have you ever talked with your Dr. re your anxiety?  Now might be a good time as living with anxiety is not comfortable.

Kindly,

Kitt

Hello Feline,

HealingWell is neither intended nor implied to be a substitute for professional medical advice.  It feels to me like a fair amount of your problems center around anxiety over your medical conditions that are going on with you.  We have a great anxiety forum if you would like to post there as the members know how to help you get past the anxiety.

We would be glad to have you join us in the Anxiety and Panic Forum.

Kindly,

Kitt

cry  HI Kitt, Thank You for the advice, however, like I said, I have to WAIT SO LONG to see a Dr!!!  I am sure you know that when you are in a PANIC, the quicker, the better because your mind runs away with all the NEGATIVE and it just builds up more.
I am going NUTS!!!  I wish I could run away but my MIND (my own worst ENEMY) would still be with me.
I have Celexa and you said it was MILD, but I am still AFRAID, I am going to try VERY HARD to start it SOON though. I have to get some relief somehow!!!

Hey Feline,

I would like to encourage you to go with the med as I did when I knew I had to do something to feel better.  :)
