I have suffered from this for now, 15 years maybe. I have almost constant pain in the upper abdomen area, right where I read/was told something about a flap that opens and closes, not sure. I also have burning around my upper chest and into my throat. I was told I had acid reflux ages ago, but no, nothing seems to help tried both prilosec and prilosec otc. tried gaviscon, tried something by boots called omeprazole 10 mg, but not much relief if any. I do tend to stress alot. which I am sure doesn't help. I do drink soda, (although alot less now than I used to) which also doesn't help. does this sound like classic Heartburn? reflux, or something else?

Hello and welcome,

I would also suggest that you see a GI specialist to determine if you do indeed have GERD as you may benefit from some testing.

Papasmurf I agree with Kitt. I was treated for GERD for 5 years due to burning pain occuring at the top of my stomach which turned out to be gallstones. The misdiagnoses was as a result of faults on both sides. I kept simply saying I had reflux and they never asked me where the pain was occuring.
Get it checked out and asks lots of questions and don't rest until you get to the bottom of it.
All the best
