Please for all of you have suffered through years of heartburn ......I can assure you it can lead to a living esopheagal damaged hell. Endoscopy's/ Colonosopies/ Gastric Cleanses in a tube / eat a radioactive egg and toast....dont move for 4 hours/ blood tests/ Barium swallows on what I call a "squirrel cage". Then comes the 3 hour surgery.....52 staples down your stomache; hopefully during surgery your Dr. "s put your bowels back in place as they should be; can't be released until you pass gas; decide on morphine options~ BOLA OR pump. ( in my last 2 ...i prefer BOLA! ) Then the staples are physically removed without anesthetic by some ****** with needle nose pliers ( the moment he or she finds out that you have farted and crapped by Milk of Magnesia) wooo Hooo you can go home now~ 10 day's later!  I masked my heartburn misery for 25 years with tums; milk; 1/2 and 1/2; Gaviscon; it became unbearable when I was drinking 2 bottles of Gaviscon a day in 2003. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hmmmmm.......maybe something is wrong!  Leaving my symptoms alone without medicaL INTERVENTION ALMOST KILLED ME!

Thank you so much for telling me that!

I'm scheduled for the Nissen (laproscopic) on Nov 2nd and I kept questioning if I REALLY needed surgery - I mean the meds dont stop the problems and wont fix my 4cm hiatal hernia but I was so scared about the operation.....but not like I could be if they were going to do to me what you just related has been done to you! Bless your heart, hope you feel better!
