Hi everyone!

I'm new to this forum an new to GERD i went to my dr after suffering from really bad heartburn and chest pain a few days after a sickness bug, he said I have acid reflux and sent me away with some gaviscon and lansoprazole! I only started to take the lansopazole yesterday and I'm hoping after a couple of days taking it my symptoms will ease.
My main problem is I have severe burning sensation in my back between my shoulder blades and under my breast bone, I also have access gas which causes pain, acid taste in the mouth and feeling something is stuck in my throat! All these symptoms have been really scary for me an I just want to know that I'm not alone! Nothing eases it at the moment it's sore when I havent eaten and sore when I have :( just feeling really low and tearful cause of it all!

Thanks for reading!

Hello and welcome to HealingWell.  You may want to check out one of our resources from the top of this forum.  Here is the direct link ~ just click on it.

I would give the medicine a bit more time and if it does not work for you consider making an appointment with a Gastroenterolgist ( GI Physician ).  You may need some further testing.

Again a warm welcome.

Kindly,
Kitt

Good Morning,  I too have anxiety and it feels to me like you are experiencing anticipatory anxiety.

Anticipatory anxiety is where a person experiences increased levels of anxiety by thinking about an event or situation in the future. The worries you experience specifically focus on what you think might happen, often with catastrophic predictions about the event.

To begin treating anticipatory anxiety, we must be able to admit that we cannot predict the future. Any scenario we are able to imagine is nothing more than speculation and fabrication.

Anxiety can increase your physical sx and soon you are on a visious circle of "what if?" thinking.  Jump off of that merry-go-round and know you will be able to deal with whatever comes your way.

Coming here and talking with the members of the forum is a great way to decrease your anxiety and gain wisdom from the members who have GERD.

Gentle Hugs,

Kitt
