I rarely have stomach pain or anything weird with my stomach, but I do have what several doctors say is LPR. Although they really aren't sure because they look at my vocal cords and those look fine and they say "it sounds like LPR but doesn't look like it"
Some times I would have headaches and plugged up ears, other times I would have no plugged ears or headaches and have a sore throat and bunch of mucus in my throat.

I have had several ENT's tell me over the last 3 years or so I have LPR, my symptoms were all over the place at different times, I didn't really know what to believe but took it on faith and took the PPI's they prescribed to me. Sometimes I would get better but never really knew if it was because the weather changed, the stuff I am allergic too wasn't in the air anymore or the PPI's worked.

So I went to an GI doc and had an endoscopy done trying to determine if I am refluxing and this is whats causing my issues. The GI said my esophagus and duodenum looked ok but that I had moderate gastritis in my stomach. He did a biopsy and I am waiting the results.

One symptom I have almost all the time is anytime I eat, right after I spit up a big wad of thick mucus and have to blow my nose, usually fine after I get rid of this and nothing else after, till the next meal of course.

Here are a few questions.

1) I read that gastritis can be cause from chronic use of NSAID's, what does chronic mean? I normally take 2 advil when I get headaches, on average maybe 3-4 times a month at most, recently I had to have my wisdom teeth removed. They prescribed me vicodin and 600mg Ibuprofen to deal with the pain. For about 7-10 days I took one 600mg ibuprofen every 6 hours and for another 3-4 days after that probably 2-3 a day. Would this of been enough to cause my moderate gastritis?

2) Could moderate gastritis cause a LPR flare or is there a link between gastritis and LPR?

3) I am probably going to get a 24hour probe done, I asked the doctor about a double ph probe and he said that isn't necessary as the single probe would catch acid going up. Is this true? or should I insist on the double ph probe?

Tia, welcome to HW.
I don't think your gastritis was caused by the nsaids. What you're describing isn't chronic use. Unless all of this happened very recently and close together.
From what you're describing you sound like acid is getting through to your upper esophagus. That means a weak valve (LES). You will probably be placed on strong PPIs and if it doesn't help you may need the surgery to strenghten your LES. This process can take awhile. They will sample several PPIs with you, run tests, and then if nothing helps they will suggest surgery. Just don't let too much time take place of nothing helping or you could damage your lungs and sinuses.

Thanks for the reply.

As of right now I don't have a clear diagnosis of LPR yet. I am hoping with a double ph probe I can rule it in or out.

Some important info I left out was I have been on 2 Aciphex a day since Aug 23rd, so basically 3 months.

And yes the ibuprofen use was right before all of this.

The timeline goes.

Sept 30 - wisdom teeth removed began pain meds. Vicoden every 6 hours staggered with 600mg ibuprofen every 6 hours.
Oct 10 - Got infection in wisdom tooth socket, and developed a secondary infection in throat which caused a sore throat and cough, took antibiotic and continued 600mg ibuprofen for another 3-4 days.
Oct 16 - Woke up with irritated throat every morning
Nov 3 - Sore throat worse, I think I got a little viral something on top of this.
Nov 15 - Sore throat better, but still irritated every morning and alot of mucus in mornings.
