8 days post-op. Over the last 48 hours, a red bumpy rash has developed above my belly button. Not where steri-strips are, but above it. I peeled the strips off in case it was a reaction to them, but it has gotten worse since. It is very itchy. Anyone else get this? I picked up liquid benadryl and anti-itch ointment and plan to give that a try for a couple days, but wanted to make sure it isn't indicative of something more serious that I should go get checked out.

Other than that healing is progressing well. Just have to keep myself from scratching! nono

It might of been something they put on there to clean up.

I think you're right- that or the surgical glue. Today it is around all of my incision sites. My goodness it itches! Taking benadryl and using cortisone cream and ice packs to soothe the itch. I'll call the surgeon tomorrow and see if they have any other suggestions.

He'll probably tell you to do what you're already doing.

Sorry to hear of your itchies and scratchies, Lovie.
Have you tried Benedryl spray for relief? I find it the very best way to deal with topical itching. Just a thought!
Monday can't come fast enough, can it? It never fails that these things hit over the weekend!
Have a great day tomorrow, and let us know what you find out!

I get the same thing but mine is from the adhesives. I'm exactly a week out and they are so itchy I couldn't sleep. I think I'll take the strips off today. I haven't found anything that helps except for time. Hope yours goes away soon!
