Has anyone had trouble swallowing after eating from acid reflux? How long typically does it take for PP's to heal an esophogas? I aso had h pylori which i treated but apparently it is an acid suppresor so now I have more acid that needs to be controlled. Any thoughts?

Hi Jake,
I thought I had acid reflux - (even though I never had heartburn) the drs told me I had as I always had phlegm in my throat ... they told me it was my throat which made phlegm to protect itself from the stomach acid.  I also had difficulty in swallowing my food, or even water ...  afterwards found out it was due to the thick sticky phlegm which my stomach released thru my weak LES ..and which got stuck in my throat (or I think lined my throat, narrowing same) making it difficult to swallow.  I posted an item about low stomach acid which can also cause GERD,(with links to interesting articles)  as it turned out that I had too low stomach acid, and by the way, too low stomach acid and too high stomach acid has more or less the same symptoms. Low stomach acid will also release some acid ... I had to take a PPI for a month ...  only got worse, so decided by myself that if a PPI made me worse it meant I did not have sufficient acid ..  did research ... ditched the PPI, and started taking digestive enzymes.  I am as close to 100% ok as can be!!
Just sharing this ... having read so many postings I have not come across anybody else with my problems, and I'm sure I cannot be unique!
Good luck,

Nexium says it will heal your esophagus in six months.

Hi -
After I was put on omeprazole (very similar to Nexium), and it didnt work, I did some research on the internet on this medication, and was horrified to see all the interactions with other drugs - so it could be that we are taking other medication which cancels out the benefits of Nexium or similar medicines.   Nexium interacts with 144 other medications ... especially every day medicines ... so please check this out.   I was also taking it at the wrong time of the day ... it should be taken first thing in the morning and then no meals for another one hour at least.
I find the "official" leaflets contained in the packaging very confusing ...  the sites on the internet far more informative, using every day language.
