hello, im posting for my mother. she is 64 and recently was diagnosed with c diff and she is close to being done with treatment. she also just got out of a nursing home for rehabilitation for hip surgery and she also formed a blood clot from it.she is on coumadin and has been since the clot formed. this was back in august.

she has gerd and tonight she had a pain in her chest behind her breast bone that went to her back. she got nauseated and had a slight sweat or hot flash. i was afraid she was having a heart attack but she refused to go to the er as she believed it was her gerd.(she also has anxiety problems)

she stood up and continued having this pain. it lasted maybe 5 minutes where it was bad. it slowly went away and she ended up burping a couple of times.

this was 3 hours ago and everything seems fine now. are these symptoms typical of gerd ?

I wouldn't assume that this is Gerd. I only say that because of her recent surgery/blood clot situation. If she isn't feeling better or if it happens again I would definitely get it checked out asap just to be on the safe side.
Good Luck

Well there you go! That's the problem with GERD and heart issues. Nobody here would be likely to assure you that it was GERD, when indeed it could be something worse.
I hope that your mom is feeling much better today.
Be sure to give her my best wishes!
Denise
