Hi fellow sufferers,
I am just so sick of being sick. I was diagnosed with GERD about 15 years ago.
It has been on and off. June 2010, I was diagnosed with heart problems and the med they gave me I think
made my GERD symptoms worse and I have new symptoms. I used to just 'cough all the time" . Now the symptoms have progressed and
gotten worse and worse. It doesn't help that I now have a heart problem and now I think all of symptoms are heart related.
I go to the ER every other weak and they do the same things , ekg, cardiac blood work, put me on the monitor, echo. Now the doctor looks at me like I am crazy or making things up. One doctor even laughed when I told him my symptoms. Do these GERD symptoms change over time?
Here are my symptoms"

severe acid in the throat that makes me cough
severe burning in the stomach
stomach bloating
neck pain
sometimes my arms gets an sensation
hoarseness and flu symptoms
feels like my ear is full
sometimes the minute I put food in my mouth before it reached the stomach i get symptoms
rarely do i get chest pain , sometimes I get a pressure near my sternum
feeling like something is in my throat
joint pain

I am on omeparazole and it is not helping. I am definitely weaning off one of the drugs I am on. I am on a drug called Norvasc.I think that is the problem. Anybody ever get symptoms like these?

I also have severe belching and passing gas at the same time. It is terrible.
I constantly feel acid in my throat.

Holy Mary....
I just read on this site to try some Braggs Apple Cider and I feel a little better!
I will take what I can. OMG I wonder if all the time i have had low acid and those meds was making it even lower.
No wonder i am not digesting any nutrients. I am also getting resp infections.

I have found the more I worry about the worse my symptoms are. I think it is more me paying so much attention to the symptoms that even a mild flare up is magnified. I am not downplaying your symptoms because I know can be very bothersome. It is just if I have a symptom I am more concerned with than any other, that is the one symptoms that seems worse. Since you are worried about shortness of breathe or some other symptom that could be heart related, you will notice those seem to be the prevailing symptom. I know that is how I am

OTOH a burning sensation in your throat that is constant and persistent hoarseness are symptoms of LPR (silent reflex)
Good luck

Merry Christmas.  I am sorry to hear of your heart issues but truly glad that the Drs. were able to dx your condition.  I would suspect your anxiety is running high and thus the trips to the ER as you worry that your sx could be your heart. I think you have a right to be anxious.

What are the warning signs of a
heart attack

The American Heart Association and other medical experts say the body likely will send one or more of these warning signals of a heart attack:

Uncomfortable pressure, fullness, squeezing or pain in the center of the chest lasting more than a few minutes.

Pain spreading to the shoulders, neck or arms. The pain may be mild to intense. It may feel like pressure, tightness, burning, or heavy weight. It may be located in the chest, upper abdomen, neck, jaw, or inside the arms or shoulders.

Chest discomfort with lightheadedness, fainting, sweating, nausea or shortness of breath.
Paleness or pallor.
Increased or irregular heart rate.
Feeling of impending doom.
Anxiety, nervousness and/or cold, sweaty skin.

May I suggest you talk with your Physician to decided when you should be concerned re your heart and presenting to the ER or when it may be GERD and perhaps a phone call to your Dr. would be appropriate ?

Remember I am not a Dr. but I hope this helps provide you with some info on the general sx of a heart attack.  This list is not all inclusive.

I wish you peace,

Kitt
