Has anyone tried probiotic supplements? By supplement, I mean a pill, not yogurt. I recently watched a program on PBS called The Road to Health, in which the speaker, Brenda Watson, advocates the use of probiotics. Here's a quote from her website: "Those are the beneficial bacteria in your intestines that help with healthy digestion and immune function, and they are the key to a strong GPS, or what I like to call your Gut Protection System." The following website provides additional information on the topic: http://weightmaven.org/2010/12/05/brenda-watson-the-gut-probiotics/.

So, has anyone out there tried probiotic supplements? If so, what were the results - good, none, too soon to tell?

Thank you.

I tried the pills for three months. I couldn't tell any differences in my acid levels just my gas levels (flatulations) went down.

Thank you for answering so quickly. Am I right to assume that your lowered gas levels were not enough for you to continue taking the supplements? Are you taking something else now for the flatulence? Were the probiotic supplements prescribed or advised by your physician or did you take them on your own?

I hope that you find some answers to your health problems. I appreciate your help.

It helped some, but not enough for me.
I'm not taking anything else for it, I just take a sool softener and the gas is less.
I took them on my own.

I take acidophilous just for the hell of it, one daily, and it makes no difference w/ my reflux.

Thank you. I'm sorry that the acidophilous isn't working for you. If you want more information on probiotics, here's a site: http://weightmaven.org/2010/12/05/brenda-watson-the-gut-probiotics/.
