Hi everyone!

I have a hiatal hernia (diagnosed as a teen, now late 20s). causing acid to come up, especially at night. I'm also a singer, so it has been causing issues.

My mom bought me Zegrid. I took it for the 14 days and am waiting for the 4 months to pass before I start another cycle, but the gerd is flaring up again. I heard that some people take PPIs up to twice a day. I'm not able to check with a doctor, as I've no insurance.

Is it safe? I know I should take additional B12 supplements, which I have, but other than that, is it ok to do without the ok of a doctor?

I've also started DGL licorice in an effort to heal the damage and protect myself, and am experimenting with eliminating gluten from my diet, as there is a chance I am hypersensitive/allergic. I'm also taking steps to lose the 25lbs I gained last year (I was 135, got up to 155, and am now around 150. Would actually like to get to 125. I'm 5'8")

I have been on Zegerid constantly for about 6 months. I asked my doctor about it because I was also worried about it because on the box it says it is only a 14 day treatment. My doctor said if it is helping then it is fine to take one a day and so far so good for me. Actually, it is about the only thing that has helped. I still get a some bad days but so far Zegerid helps the most.

Zantac worked for me I could even cut the tablets into pieces and take them in smaller doses when I didn't feel the need to take any more. Its cheaper than ppi and you dont need to see a doctor.
