This is the only test I have not had and I'm doing it on Monday. I'm a little freaked because the nurse said I have to eat 2 scrambled eggs, a piece of toast, and a glass of water in 5 minutes. That's a lot for me to eat at once, about what I have all day. I have a piece of toast in the morning with my meds and that takes me longer than 5 minutes to eat since I don't want it to get stuck. Are they pretty strict on how much you eat? I just don't want to go and they won't be able to do the test.

Hi babygirl,
I had this test when I was hospitalized for GERD induced asthma. They made me eat an egg salad sandwich. At that time I was eating NOTHING, as my stomach was ripped up. Somehow I managed, and so will you. You'll have to lay there (another problem) and watch on a monitor as your stomach empties. Mine emptied just fine.
Don't worry. This too will pass.
You can manage it.
Good luck!

I had about a 1/2 cup of beef noodle soup and a glass of water. I stood in front of the camera every 15 minutes for about two hours.

I'm back! Was easy as pie. She couldn't give me official results but at the last scan she said the eggs should be almost completely digested and I had more than half left. I see my surgeon on Friday to get the full results but he said if this is the problem, I could still be getting reflux because food is backing up in the stomach. He said I can go to Madison to see a dr who puts in a gastric pacemaker type thing that controls the contractions of the stomach.

Now I'm confused. The nurse doing the test said it wasn't normal but then my surgeon's nurse called and said my test was normal. I called my gastro to see what she says but she has to call me back tomorrow.

Joy, I think it's something newer. If you google it, a bunch of links come up.
