I was put on PPIs because of a suspected gastritis case. After my endoscopy, they discovered nothing was really wrong. I was then taken off the PPIs. Before I started the PPIs, I had no symptoms of GERD or heartburn. After my 4th day on the PPI, I started to get a tight, dry throat. I have never had this before. I was only on them for 4 weeks. They now officially took me off the PPIs. I have been off of the PPIs for only 3 days though. I have the tight throat, dry throat, and some regurgitation, but the regurgitation does not burn my mouth when it comes up, which I do not understand. I felt completely fine until I started the PPIs. I'm curious if this is like an acid rebound thing? I seriously REGRET ever even starting them.

maybe it could be side effects of the ppi's,i've been on ppi's for over 3 years and there are different side effects to deal with, and you can have a type of withdrawl from stopping the meds also.

It started after 4 days on the 40mg omeprazole. I was on that for about 10 days. Then, they put me on 40mg Nexium for about 18 days. I officially stopped the Nexium Monday. Is there any idea of how long the withdrawal would last?
