A couple of years ago the flu was rampant in the school system and student's parents were told not to send the student back to school until their fever was normal for 24 hours - that meant no increase in temp even at bedtime but ok in the morning.
There are studies available that show that a person in good health can be contagious one day prior to showing any type of symptoms and illness . A good rule of thumb for any physician is to have their patient avoid contact with others for a period of one week. In some strains of influenza, the time frame for one being contagious varies with the level of extremity of the illness.
I know how badly you want to babysit again.
There seems to be a 24 hours stomach flu out there too as my daughter had that and my granddaughter too.
