Hi I'm back after a long absence.  I have been on Nexium or other PPI for about the last 15 years, with all the new evidence about calcium and B12 absorption, and my advancing age (a young 63) where these things become even more critical, I have decided to try and get off this stuff.  I have tried unsuccessfully in the past but am going to try again.  I had been off nexium for 5-days but broke down today and took a 20 mg. tablet, I actually think I am having sinus like headaches from the reflux, heart burn goes from bad to awful.  I am trying the digestive enzymes and apple cider vinegar and honey, sometimes it works.  Has anyone had any success with Marshmallow root, or is DGL better. Was glad to read that what I am experiencing is probably rebound acid and that it will go away in time.  I am seeing my regular dr. tomorrow as I am very suspicious I have a B12 deficiency and I want to be tested, will make an appt. with my GI doc but it takes weeks to get into see him, neither of these docs are too happy when I tell them I want to get off the meds, they tell me I will probably need to take forever, not willing to accept that, especially after reading all these posts.  This is a wonderful site.  I am retiring soon and am looking at knee replacement and I don't want to deal with reflux as well, I want to enjoy my retirement.  I would love to hear more about what people feel are the best things to take while weaning off of drug.  My throat is burning and I have these sinus issues.  Thanks.
