Lap Nissen Post-Surgical Questions

I had my lap nissen procedure in September, 2010.  It is now more than than six months since the procedure and I have two issues needing resolution.  1. I have a new nickname called Sir Fartsalot, how do I get this under control? 2. I get an upset stomach and occasional diarrhea, how do I get this under control?
 
Any help is greatly appreciated.  My doctor had me take Mirilax for a week but it did not help.

Welcome SF, I'm Madam Toots! :))
There is a bad side effect from having a tighter LES. Instead of the air going up it goes down. :S
It does lessen as time progresses, but it's always there. I find I get worse when I'm consitipated.

Maybe you need more bulk in your diet to help the upset stomach.

We all seem to experience some type of bowel problems after this type of surgery. For three months after my surgery, i had the runs very bad. It has been 7 months since my surgery and i still have bowel problems of gas, bloating and still, not a FIRM stool. Diet is to be of control for this like Joy said above in fiber and other bulk foods. For me, nothing has worked due to a botched surgery. We are not all the same, so what might work well on one person, might not work on another. Watch what you eat - see about PPIs from your doctor to control acids inside the stomach. Madam Toots, has been in touch with a lot of people and knows what she is talking about. Good luck Bob

Thanks very much for your input(s) folks. Went back to the doctor yesterday to discuss.  I'm now trying a prescription called Amitiza 8 mcg dose.  Will keep you informed.  He also wants me to consume 5 small meals daily instead of the current 2.
