I am 10 days out of surgery and so far it has been wonderful. I am 30yr old male approx 190lbs. I was on 4 pills a day to control reflux and everything that comes with it. I will say I underestimated the surgery. Day 1 was by far the worse I woke up with a bad sore throat and some sharp pain at the top of the stomach. I stayed overnight mainly because with 3 girls under 3 at home I figured I would get the best rest at the hospital. I had them give me morphine that night to help me sleep HIGHLY recommend that haha. Day2 sore throat was A LOT better and sharp pain was better as well. It seems each day my sharp pain gets A Lot better. My sore throat was gone by day 3. Most of the sharp pain was gone by day 5 belching seems to be the only time I feel it . I have been eating soups (cream of mushroom, cream of broccoli, potato soup) Protein Shakes, Pudding, Jello, Cream of Wheat for breakfast. So far I have had NO problems with food getting stuck or reflux. I am starting to incorporate some semi solids noodles, ect. I am posting this because a lot of people only post the negative and I can say thus far it has been a VERY good decision. I will keep you posted Cant wait to try beer and wine haven't been able to drink either for years.

Hi bigjake,
Welcome to Healing Well! I'm so glad to hear about your great recovery from your TIF surgery. Often people come to this forum looking for information regarding the TIF, and I think this journal of your first days will be very helpful.

I hope you stay with us and continue to chronicle your recovery for others to read and learn from.
Best Wishes,
Denise

Hi BigJake,
Please keep posting, because as I said, people often come here looking for answers that we Nissen people can't answer. Good luck with your surgeon appointment!

I had Dr. Bagnato's modified Hill Repair. It's been very good for me.
