Hi All

I am 4 days post op. My symptoms where coughing and heartburn. Since the operation i have not had either. I have been reading past posts and seem to have a handle on what to expect post op.

I am still on a liquid diet, i have noticed that if i eat fast i tend to have hiccups and these are painful i can feel leverything being pulled up and then settling again.

Dont really have any quetsions or problems at the moment but just felt like chatting to people who have undergone the procedure before.

I have not had a bowel movement since the operation.

Thank you for the platform

Welcome to the famous "Wrapped Club"!
Yep, the hiccups are aggrevating. I was plagued with them everytime I over ate or ate too fast.
Don't worry the BM will come. The pain killers cause this. You can drink some mineral oil and water if nothing after day 5.

I didn't have a bowel movement for 5 days so don't worry. Liquid diet is horribly dull. I found smooth soups and fruit juice was quite good, I know what you mean about the hiccups. Make sure what you're eating isn't too thick as I usually get those hiccups when stuff sticks and there's a backlog at the wrap site. I'm nearly 4 weeks in now and after the second week you'll start to add a bit more variety to your diet and moving about a lot more. Hang in there!

Thanks guys i was relly getting worried about the bowel movement. Will be patient.

Trying to wean myself of the pain medication so have not taken any yet today and its already 12:00 middday.

Talking is also a problem seem to get out of breath or get a note in the oesophogus(sp) area that is only relievd after some time quite.

My other concern is the itchyness where the holes are its driving me crazy and i have to sit rubbing my stomache cant really scratch because i still hvae the postop bandages on and was told to just change them until my 2 week visit with the surgeon.

The diet is killing me the soups are so bland and really craving something tasty and salty. Any ideas dont want to try the meat and solid stuff esp after hearing the "hairball" experiences out there.

Wish you all a blessed day!

I'd go for your favourite veg, make a casserole using some herbs and spices then blitz the veg to a pulp. Add in chicken or veg stock until it's runny enough to eat. Much tastier than canned soup and a good way of checking what you can tolerate.

I never had the bandages, I just had glue stiches. The last one is just dropping off now. Ice cream is good too by the way! Treat yourself but remember to go for small portions.
