Even with all the meds. I am taking to try and control the acid I am still getting very sick to my stomach and having alot of pain and severe bloating. So nothing but fruit smoothies. On top of the gerd problem I have gastroparesis so that makes things even worse. Now that my dr. is gearing towards surgery for me I am so ready to get it over with. I am taking zofran everyday for nausea and it barely helps. And the pain is so bad sometimes. I wonder how much of it is the hernia.

Just complaining today, sorry. Feel terrible.

Hi Sheila,
I'm sorry to hear you're struggling so. Before my surgery I used to get gastritis then esophagitis, which put me right on a soft/liquid diet. I would go weeks, actually months without being able to eat normally. Even a tablespoon of food would get my stomach and esophagus roaring. It was very painful. My surgeon said that I should eat that way until I felt perfect for two weeks, then try introducing regular foods back. I'd always loose 20 pounds or so. My problem was more pain than nausea, though.

I can tell you one thing. My recovery from the Nissen was much easier than my recovery from one of those episodes.

Good luck getting things straightened around soon.
Denise

PS
Have you ever tried Carafate? I found that it was the only thing that gave me relief. The suspension form is my favorite because it coats the esophagus as well as the stomach.
Just a thought.

Thanks for the support. I will look for the carafate. I have been on the 300mg of zantac every night and I can't feel any relief. Along with 60 mg of dixaltin I would think that I would be a bit better. So tired of my stomach hurting. it is killing me this morning and I feel so sick to my stomach. Ready to get this fixed.
