Hi my I'm a 21 year old female who was diagnosed lactose intolerant a yr ago...ever since I changed my diet to eat around having dairy in my food, or every now and then take a pill. But as much as I am concerned on why that was just all of a sudden, I'm more concerned with this recent matter.

about 2 months ago I started realizing Im getting gas almost everytime I eat, and on top of that...heartburn at times, but every time (90%), Im puking/spitting up chunks of the food I tried digesting at a meal from anywhere of 2hrs to 6 hrs after. Whats going on here?

Are you certain you have fully eliminated all dairy produce from your diet? If so, I would consider trying digestive enzymes to see if that helps. The other possibility is that you have other intolerances, perhaps gluten? Were you also tested for coeliac disease?

Presumably if you are vomiting you also have nausea?

I would look for a good broad spectrum digestive enzyme and try that for about six weeks. However, if you have any significant weight loss, loss of appetite or pain, then I would see your doctor just to make sure nothing else needs checking out.

Thankyou, I'll definitely try that. I don't have nausea though, and no I dont really think they tested me for that.

Hi tallygirlneedsadvice,

Welcome to Healing Well! I'm sorry to hear you are suffering with eating/digestion problems. It sounds as if your stomach isn't clearing food as fast as it should. Typically, it should be pretty empty by a couple hours after you eat.

Have you checked into delayed stomach emptying/gastroparesis? Also how about Celiac Disease. Not to try to frighten you about either, you might find that one or the other rings a bell. It's probably not either, but I thought I'd mention them, as they did come to mind.

Here are some sites that will give you some background...

Now, don't go jumping to conclusions! I hope I haven't confused you more!
