I have seen online how your body drastically increases your saliva production and swallowing frequency to combat the acid in your esophagus. Well, now I have changed medicines to Protonix and I no longer have reflux, but my body still wants to swallow saliva every ten seconds. Does anyone know of a possible remedy to break this habit. Thank ya!

Is it really annoying? I mean, you should be glad that your body is trying to help you, I produce excessive saliva sometimes aswell...but it might last minutes, not much.

I bet there are products around that will help you if its too drastic, Google it!

It is not that it is annoying. It is because it makes me swallow so much that I take in an abnormal amount of air. So after I eat, I don't even have reflux but I habitually start swallowing so much that I end up burping and having a small amount of acid come up into my throat (I have LPR).

Don't know a remedy. People who struggle with acid reflux have that problem of swallowing too much air. You will have to try to retrain your reflexes.

Excess saliva is definitely a medication side effect I had whilst on ppi's, especially omeprazole. Once I knew it was only the medication I was less worried about it and just got used to it; it's one of those symptoms that increases if you focus on it!!
