Hope I do this right as I am new :confused. Have been succesfully treated with omeprazole. But since on Miralax I am waking up with heartburn. I take it before bed. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure why the Miralax would cause problems; maybe it relaxes the LES? Have you tried other means of fixing constipation, dietary changes such as having porridge, rye instead of wheat and plenty fruit and veg? A gluten free trial might be a useful experiment just because wheat is very high gluten and tends to gel stuff together and slow the whole system down.

I guess the other thing to do would be to stop the Miralax for a couple of days just to make sure that is the cause of the symptom breakthrough.

Hope that helps . . .

Everyone I know that takes Miralax takes it in the morning. It's not really a fast acting overnight type of laxative. I know Miralax has to be taken with food or liquid, so you could be putting too much in your stomach at bedtime. My GI doesn't even want me drinking 2 to 2 1/2 hours before bed. So yes, it could be causing you heartburn if taken at night.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for the suggestions. Some I already do. Now I will try taking it in morning. Will report back with experience.
